Dr. X Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 The XF-9v 'Pincer' is a prototype designed to test the capabilities of the new ion pincer technology. The ion pincers were designed to disable ships, without the use of heavy or numerous ion blasts or conner nets. The XF-9v simply maneuvers near the ship it wants to disable, finds some protruding element small enough to fit between the pincers, and latches on. Then the pincers deliver an ion shock many times greater than that of one in an energy bolt, usually rendering all or part of the ship temporarily inoperative. (Sorry for the overly-long backstory and description.) One day I decided to dump out all of my gray boxes and build a fighter, so, I did. This is what came out. It all started when I found that dark gray engine piece in the back, and stuck it into the ball socket. Only after I added those overhang pieces on the end of the pincers did I think of the ion shock idea. Full gallery here on Flickr. What do you think? -Dr. X Quote

Dr. X Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Thanks guys! And a minifig can fit inside, but he has to wear a helmet in ex-atmospheric flight. Quote
Guss Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Dr. X , I love this ship.. I love the " pincer" thing, that's very clever, I just can imagine a full float of these little ship disassembling a huge ship like ants ... I love the design, the built ( as usual , really nicely built ) and the idea , Great job ! Quote

Dr. X Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Yeah, I think that's the mindset I was in when I was building it.. Quote
Asuka Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 A well thought out concept in a neat insectoid shape, very smart. Quote
