Moose Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 The ninja sets had i believe five different color ninjas: grey, black, red, white, green. If i remember correctly, grey were the good ninjas and black were the bad ones. What side were the other colors on? Or am i totally wrong in there being different sides? Quote
Dwarvenlord Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I thought that actually all of the ninjas were good (except the black one). The other bad guys were samurais and sort of muggers, but in all the good side had more figs. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I thought it was Ninja vs Samurai but have been know to make mistakes. I guess it would make sense for the black ninjas to be bad I guess. Quote
Moose Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Well i always assumed it to be the samurais (guys in blue) vs muggers (guys in red) with the grey ninjas on the samurais side and the black ninjas on the muggers side. just couldnt remember what faction the other ninjas fell into Quote
Razzer Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 (edited) Well i always assumed it to be the samurais (guys in blue) vs muggers (guys in red) with the grey ninjas on the samurais side and the black ninjas on the muggers side. just couldnt remember what faction the other ninjas fell into Ditto on that one. The Green Ninjas were certainly good, because I bought the minifig pack of them - a girl ninja, boy ninja and their shogun. The collectors cards stated that he was a good shogun and they were his guards. Edited October 27, 2008 by Razzer Quote
Apolloo Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 The red ones might of been bad too. But I bet I'm wrong. Quote
Sandy Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Why does everything have to be divided into good and evil groups? Why can't the different colored ninjas just be different factions at war with each other? I think it's a bit childish to always assume that black clothes means an evil person. But these are just my pseudo-philosophical ramblings, so never mind me... Quote

I'ld like it if it were that way too, and that is what I do (in mine they're from different regions of Japan) but I'm pretty sure Lego intended them to be split into good and evil factions... Quote
Dwarvenlord Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I use the black one as leader and the greys as less experienced side-kicks. But i think Moose only mented the way TLC divided them in "good" and "evil" groups, not the way we're using them . Quote
randomparrot Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I think it's a bit childish to always assume that black clothes means an evil person. This is a Childs toy, and all the "baddies" in a kids tv show always tend to be wearing black or dark clothes in a similar way the "bad" ninjas would be black as that is assumed a evil colour by kids so kids feel they are evil. TLG might even had left it to kids to decide with their imagination. Quote
Eilif Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 TLG may have provided some written guidance for some of the smaller figure sets, but TLG wisely left most of it up to the imagination. I have the "Flying Ninja's Castle", and despite the hint in the title, in the flip box packaging they refer to both samurai and ninja as "ninja" and don't even say for certain who the castle belongs to. I think in general it is Ninja vs Samurai, but just like the rest of the assumptions here, it's just that, an assumption. The green are the only ninja that I've ever seen ascribed to the Samurai side, but the joy of LEGO is that so much is left to the imagination. Man I wish i had a green ninja or two... Quote
Dr. X Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 (edited) Actually, historically, ninjas were usually seperate from shoguns or their samurais, and were either assassins for hire or fighting to protect themselves and their farms. There simply weren't enough ninja to wage an actual war on the samurais; usually ninjas were hired as assassins or spies by one side or the other. Edited November 4, 2008 by Dr. X Quote
MoonCheese Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Japanese doesn't have separate plural forms. One ninja, two ninja... Quote
