Badsneaker Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 When building a LEGO city with trains, do you build the train around your city or design the city around the train layout? My current setup only allows my train to circle my city, not much fun for the trains although I have 4 switching tracks not being used. My current city is on a 4 x 10 table. 15 buildings including 2 train stations. I like the way the city is layed out now and don't want to change it too much, although most of the city is modular and I can move things around pretty good. Thoughts? Ideas to make the train set better without impacting the city too much? Quote
Bob Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I actually raised my tracks up high with the black support beam pieces and made them go around my taller buildigs. However, some might do it differently. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I would recommend designing the layout with an application such as TrackDraw or Track Designer and then filling up the empty spots with buildings etc. Quote
BillytheKid Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 (edited) In my case, I put many trains as possible in my layout. But I love 12v trains and they have to dominate the layout . This is my layout now: I have made some room for baseplates and buildings. It was hard to place the monorail between it, but I'm very happy with the layout right now. Not too much trains and not too less. If you think trains are just something to add to your layout, then put it around your town. Edited October 28, 2008 by Panda9001100 Quote
