Buttons Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Now I really do love the old model team theme due mainly to their incredible detail and design and would personally like to see it make a come back. How many others of you would like to see this happen? Quote
Guss Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I think that some Creator set are a little like the previous Model Team like the Roaring roadster, check this gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=184369 , you'll see that the inside is full of details, and this one : have a lot of details too I think ^^ Quote

How many others of you would like to see this happen? Yup, I'm in. I have that huge yellow van. I must admit it lies somewhere broken up in one of the Lego boxes, but I remember the line very well. It was one of the last things I bought before entering the so-called "Dark Ages". Let's start a petition ! Quote

shimon Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) well first of all YEAH i want model team back !!, their creations looked very real and detailed like 5571 5590 5591 its not like the creator rig compared to black cat first of all in model team there was 1 thing i didnt like .. thats how they mixed up blue yellow red green inside the models, but outside they were fantastic! 1 more thnig the model team always had steering in their models the wheels were not wide and thats make them easier to steer unlike creator the 4896 the wheels are wide and they car barely steer... oh and the windscreens ... Thomas B. Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 It really does. It's almost life size. It should be considered 1:2 scale! Quote

Rijkvv Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Yes, Model Team is great theme indeed, and I am a proud owner of 5571. I would like to see this theme restarted. But IF it's restarted, I hope there are not as many stickers as in the original theme (I hate stickers). The stickers are one of the main reasons why I don't collect Model Team. Quote
CP5670 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 As Guss said, the larger Creator sets are basically what Model Team used to be. That red truck is a good example. There hasn't been anything of the scale of 5571 yet but the standard sized Model Team sets are very similar to the Creator vehicles. I have most of the Model Team line and the Creator stuff fits perfectly alongside them on a display shelf. Yes, Model Team is great theme indeed, and I am a proud owner of 5571. I would like to see this theme restarted. But IF it's restarted, I hope there are not as many stickers as in the original theme (I hate stickers). The stickers are one of the main reasons why I don't collect Model Team. I don't mind stickers as long as they only cover one part and are the transparent, clear paper type (which last longer). Some of the later MT sets used multi-part stickers, which was a little annoying. Quote
Thomas B. Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Yes...We just start posting here...I'll take care of the rest... Quote
slimninj4 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 I have to disagree. The red creator truck (which I have) in no way compares to model team 5571 or other sets. The detailing is just not there. I own many MT sets includling 2556, 5510, 5540, 5563, and my favorite 5590. If creator got a bit more detailing then it would be same level. Quote
CP5670 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 (edited) It's funny that you mention 5540, since that set was quite sparsely detailed by MT standards and was an oddity among the theme. The 5571 and 5563 sets were somewhat unusual since they were designed at a significantly larger scale than the rest of the theme, which allowed them to incorporate much more detail than usual. More typical examples of MT sets were things like 5580 or 5581. I guess on closer examination though, that 4955 Creator truck does have some issues. It has excellent detail from the front and a nice interior but looks rather bare and unfinished in the back. The one thing that I find lacking in Creator sets in general is that there are no chrome pieces, which were used on 5571 and most of the later MT sets. Even a handful of those add a lot to the appearance of these models. Edited October 26, 2008 by CP5670 Quote

I very nearly bought this set the other day in Tesco as the front and interior look fantastic and I thought looked like a successor to the original Model Team rig. However, closer inspection found the the rear end left a lot to be desired. The small-style cab (no sleepercab) and the plain looking coupling put me off. While there is plenty of scope for MOCing a better rear end, it has put me off for now. Cheers Rog Quote
CP5670 Posted October 26, 2008 Posted October 26, 2008 Maybe that's why the box picture and promotional images only show it from the front and obscure the rear. I only saw what the back section looked like when flipping through the instructions on Brickfactory. Quote
Buttons Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 There's just something extra you get with model team that I can't explain. Quote
