DarthPineapple Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I was especially upset with the US price for the TX-130 , so I made this vig. It's not really about detail but about the purpose. Click the picture for the gallery. Quote
Hinckley Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Do an analysis of the value of the US dollar since the fed has dropped the interest rate to record lows to avoid inflation and the recent economic scare over the federal bailouts of our banks and update your vig. Translation: No one's buying that much in the states right now. Quote
Nyundi Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Haha! Should we call this "Cynical Social Commentary in LEGO Form", or just a an editorial cartoon with a very limited audience Either way it is both true and funny! Quote

Captain Green Hair Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I just experienced this matter first hand today exchanging dollars for euro's....i might as well have given them away Quote
Skipper 24 Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I think that is right although exaggerated it puts your point across. It isn't just the US that is having the financial crisis it is the UK too because all there Icelandic banks have just collapsed and such the like. Quote
The Cobra Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 [...]so I made this vig. It's not really about detail but about the purpose. If you look at my signature, you'll find I agree with you. Quote
DarthPineapple Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 If you look at my signature, you'll find I agree with you. Yea, it's the same here. We pay twice as much for BP's and the TX-130. Quote
Zorro Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 DarthPineapple, I think your MOC looks just fine and does what it is supposed to do: let people think why TLC is so much more expensive in the European Union, stated the fact the (former?)Lego HQ is located down there... it is exgagerated yes, but that is only to show his point with which I agree. brickzone Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Nice. There's no doubt, setting aside economics or US wages, or any other concerns... the rest of us in the world would like to buy Lego at US prices :) Quote
DarthPineapple Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Nice. There's no doubt, setting aside economics or US wages, or any other concerns... the rest of us in the world would like to buy Lego at US prices :) That's exactly what I meant with this MOC. Quote
Skinny Boy Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 How long do you guys think this has been going on? The first time I really noticed was with the K.O.T.C.S. sets. They seemed too dear, yet I bought 2 of them. Hopefully, City '09 will have fairer prices. Quote
rupi Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Your vig is right on I feel the same, it's not fair (I know, economy has nothing to do with fairness) Quote

Nyundi, thanks for your reply. I'm happy someone likes it here. Ha ha! You can't control me. I'll comment how I want. Seriously, if you don't like my comment, don't read it. And lighten up. I am sorry if the comment offended you. The comment had more to do with my wallet than your excellent creation. I like it very much! I hope to see more from you. Sorry to get off on the wrong foot. I hope you have fun here and bring us more cool creations with your very clever humor. Nice. There's no doubt, setting aside economics or US wages, or any other concerns... the rest of us in the world would like to buy Lego at US prices :) Trust me, I know. Scandinavians And TLG has even admitted that they make up for US losses in the pricing of products "overseas." Odd for them to say "overseas" when they're really in Denmark. But, on a separate point, no American is walking to the checkout with that much stuff-but for completely unrelated reasons. In other words, Unfair Pricing Off! Quote
Guss Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 haha, a nice way to complain about legos prices , nicely done^^ Quote
Trexxen Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Haha, pure gold! It's, as someone already said, like a political comic in Lego! While the state in the US isn't nearly as good as it used to be, yes, at one point in this very year it was pretty much like that. Actually, I've contemplated an idea for a while...but I don't know about it, since it would either take a lot of investment from me (a bricklink store means I'd have to buy the inventory first, with no guarantee it would sell), or a lot of risk (If I get the money first then can't find the set...)...but... I'd like to at least see some other American, if not myself, buy sets and then sell them at US prices - for many, even with shipping it'd be a much cheaper alternative, and the person doesn't lose any money...As I've said, I've contemplated it, but give me a break - I can't even drive yet! Anywho, since that's only half of what this topic's about...the vignette is excellently done, and though I don't think I've ever seen a cubic lego box (Perhaps there's a Bionicle in there or something?), it's very realistic - and though as Hinckley said even Americans can't buy that much anymore, it's pretty darn realistic! =P Also, on a note, what are the values on those coins? It'd be even more hilarious if the US person paid with a single 10 while the UK had three 40s...=P ~Trexxen Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Nice pair of vig's. Excellent commentary as well! I know it's exaggerated, but most satire is, that's what makes it funny. Dr. S. Quote
