But if my years of inquisition have not made me Paranoid, or even Insane, then I hope you burn in Hell for your sins. Your execution will be carried out as usual... let God have mercy once again if you are truly innocent. May I add to whoever the night guard is.. or are. I will say that both Martinus and I are important to the investigations. Perhaps you didn't know, but it is me who decides who to be investigated. Martinus does the torturing and then tells me the result. He, however, does not remember what the result is. With one of us gone, I am sure that we will have no more night time investigations. Wait.. I wonder if I can torture people by myself.. probably not! So if you have more than two options to guard someone, may I advise you to guard both of us. However, be wary that the heretics may abandon hope trying to kill us and just pick off someone innocent... oh these complications are tearing me. I need rest..

I think there is more to our Inquisitor and the "torturer than meets the eye. However as we do not know anything for sure yet, let us contemplate on what we know overnight and then we can come together tomorrow morning with clear heads to make a proper informed decision. It is getting dark, and I think it might almost be time for us to return to our beds...

If there is something to the "The torturer doesn't remember" anomaly, I don't understand what they stand to achieve by falsely accusing Bernard, or even having an investigator on the witch's side.
