Nannan Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Hi all, Having just joined EB, I'd like to present my latest work as an introductory MOC. Here is the surrealist sculpture called the Legacy of Vision. Some of you may recognize it as similar to one of my earlier works, the Cry of Dream. Either way, there's plenty of gore to be shared by all. But if you're interested in more meaning behind the madness, you can visit either Flickr or MOCpages for more description. That's all I have for now, enjoy! :skull: -Nannan Quote
Dr. X Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Yay! Even though I've seen this before, and in person too, it's still awesome in all it's strange surrealness. And welcome to EB. I'm surprised you weren't here already. Quote
Guss Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 I never saw your mocs before ( well, I just came out of my dark age^^ ) , and I have to say that many of your mocs are awesome, the others are superb^^ this one is strange but very nicely done, great mocs ! Quote
Sandy Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 I'm absolutely loving the disturbing surrealism of your MOCs! It's a nice change to all the realistic stuff that most people create here. I have to admit that my imagination wouldn't be able to produce anything on that level! Quote
Zorro Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 That is so awesome! You have plenty of "gore-bricks" and spiders and stuff... What kind of drug/med are you on , having those kind of things in your imagination? Good job ! Quote
Zepher Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Seen and commented on Mocpages. The hlaf buried Cycloen Virtue is a great touch! Quote
darkrebellion Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Awesome MOC(s) Nannan . I think this is absolutely amazing (And your other MOCs too ) the level of surrealism is awesome and this is what I think is lego ART. Quote
Donut Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Very interesting MOC, good to see a sequel to one of your previous works. I enjoyed reading the back story to this particular creation, some of the ideas behind this is very deep. Great job! By the way, you aren't running low on bley bricks are you? Quote
Adam Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 I have been awed by your work for quite some time- and your Black Fantasy theme is simply brilliant. I love many of the effects you've put into this creation- my favorite being the top portion (the claw part). Excellent work! About your creation Nocturne... how did you make the wall curve so nicely? Quote
Corvus Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Very cool. Madness it may be, but very cool, very creative madness. Quote
der seb Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Hi Nannan welcome to EB. I saw your MOCs at BS and FBTB ealier and they are still awesome Quote
Asuka Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 A beautiful and intense work, very creative, detailed and exciting. Hello and welcome to the well flabbergasted side of the brick! Quote
Nannan Posted October 25, 2008 Author Posted October 25, 2008 Thanks everyone, always a pleasure to be a reliable source for your supply of darkness and despair. There'll be more coming. About your creation Nocturne... how did you make the wall curve so nicely? Make the wall out of 1X2 bricks and then bend it. It works. Quote
Trexxen Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Nice! It appears to actually be a blend of lots of your older models...I spy the Contortion and an emerging Cyclopean Virtue for sure; and that's just the ones I can name off the top of my head! On top of that, the writing is superb as well - it actually (somewhat worryingly =P) somewhat describes my ideas of the universe - great minds think alike, I guess? O_o Some of my favorite features of this MOC (and there's a lot of them...) would have to be the way you integrated the Cyclopean Virtue (it looks like it's burrowing out of the ground!), the ants (How many of them would you estimate are there?), and the way the contortion is binding one of your infamous minifigs. Overall it's an amazing model - the studless design giving it the elegance of an ancient city, but the black fantasy adding an appropriate touch of surrealism. ~Trexxen Quote
Nannan Posted October 30, 2008 Author Posted October 30, 2008 the studless design giving it the elegance of an ancient city Yay, someone noticed noticed this; it was why I chose tan for the background. You nailed a bunch of other things too and I'm glad you enjoyed this MOC. -Nannan Quote
