Badsneaker Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 I decided to throw together a little Coke truck. I saw a LEGO one somewhere and thought I should try it. I don't normally put graphics on my stuff, but it needed something. I printed a Coke sign off the web and glued it on with a glue stick. The cab is 6 wide but for the box section I wanted something larger but not 8. I think it would have been too big on the back. So I went 7. Here it is: Here's the front. I like my trucks and cars to be low to the ground, so the front grille/headlight/bumper section is 4 studs deep. I also let the wheels tuck right into the mudguards yet they still roll. Looking at the front, I may change the front nose panel to white along with the roof of the cab. Comments on this? Back: The door actually fits well although I can't fit any cases of coke inside when I open it. Delivery being made. When I have a chance I will pick up some more red cabinets with white doors to have 2 on each side. One more shot showing the front. You can see in this pic how the 7 wide box section fits well with the 6 wide cab. Sorry for the rough pics, my camera and camerman both stink! As usual comments, criticism, and feedback welcome! Thanks for looking! Quote
Darth_Legois Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Looks good [i suck at odd numbers with LEGO cars so I stick to 4wide or 6wide ] But 7-Wide looks good Maybe add abit more white... It looks abit wierd since theres just chunks of white, Other then that I like it And I like that Coca-Cola logo Maybe add a long one instead to cover the 2 sides of the 'wide box section' & Maybe a small one at the front [Maybe just one saying "Coca-Cola"] Quote
Thomas B. Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 There should more white, as Darth_Legois said. But, something is lacking. I think you should add a door on each side. Good job though! Quote
Guss Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 looks great! I really like it , the front is nice! Quote
brickzone Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Looks nice, and I do agree with the bumper on the front being reasonably low. But it being a lorry, even a rigid body small one, I would not go for having the wheels right into the wheel arches. Indeed I would say you should at least add a single plate level between the wheel axles and vehicle chassis (i.e. wheels lowered from arches by at least one plate). To be honest, I would suggest building your own wheel arches, as the one piece ones are too tight entirely for a lorry such as this. I like the idea of the 6 wide cab with 7 wide container behind. 8 wide would indeed look too wide, and mostly such lorries have a cab smaller than the container. Quote
Badsneaker Posted October 19, 2008 Author Posted October 19, 2008 Thanks for everyones advice and comments. I've added the cabinets on the side so there are 2 each side now. I replaced the cab roof with white, replaced the front grille back plate with white, and added a white rocker panel. The rear lamp holders were also replaced with white. I also replaced the mirror holders with white and used grey for the mirrors. Quote
Legoking Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 This is a really cool coca cola truck. I like how you made it look like the original trucks that coca cola has today. Is that coca cola logo a sticker or did you print that off the internet? I think you did a great job! LegoKing Quote
Guss Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I liked it before, now I love it, the improvement you did are really nice, great job Quote

Yes I'd say it is an improvement from the first one I might have to make one based on the Ambulance/Prisoner Transport Quote
Badsneaker Posted October 21, 2008 Author Posted October 21, 2008 Thanks guys, you all helped build it. I always take all advice and suggestions seriously, and usually use them. I didn't raise the wheel arches however. I like it low. I would like to find a better Coke logo for it though. Quote
Ralph_S Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 I really like 7-wide trucks and this one is no exception. The size simply looks right next to cafe-corner compatible buildings, minifigs and many other LEGO city vehicles such as the cement truck. I don't really like the mudguards on the rear wheels and how you tapered the sides of the truck to get them to fit. I think the solution that I used on my 7-wide fire engine would work for you too. Cheers, Ralph Quote

Cheers, Ralph Ralph, Thanks for your input, I'm humbled to have your reply and suggestions. I do like the way you made the arches with the cheese slopes and headlight bricks on your firetruck. I do believe I have more red cheese slopes so I think I will try it. I don't care for the the way the mudguards fit on the rear either. It was the only way I could think to do it. Tonight I will try the mod and post the results. Thanks! Quote
Badsneaker Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 Nice truck Truck based on Set 7239 ? Thanks Gouns it scratch built but I did use the pallet truck from my 7898 Cargo train for inspiration. Quote
