z_zadar Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 'Online poker addict' Real life story. My friend got him self into online poker, and never does anything else anymore. He neglected his other hobbies (photography), and I tried to capture it on vignette. Please comment it. Thanks. --- my lego life: http://lego2.maxi.hr Quote
Sandy Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 You should've put an axe or something on the girl's hand, since it's almost Halloween and all. I know if my boyfriend would be a poker addict and spending all our money on playing it, there would be at least severed limbs, if not bodies. Anyway, this vignette is very nice with loads of realistic details - the computer mouse, for example. I'm not sure on the head-choice for the man, though - he looks a bit old for the purpose. Quote
Guss Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I also had a friend who, apart his job, spent all his time playing poker on internet... I tried to convince him to stop , but he never stopped, so it's not my friend anymore. anyway, it's a very good vignette, you just need a little keyboard to put in front of the guy ^^ Quote
WhiteFang Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 It's most unfortunate that your friend got addicited to such ill-gotten passion... Do hope you are able to help your friend out of this peril. Back to your vig, you have depicit the above scenario very well. It looks simple, but you get your message across effectively. Perhaps, the girl/wife should use a hammer and smash that computer up, instead of running it away. Thanks for sharing! Quote
slimninj4 Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Great Vignette. Seems he wants the screen more than her. Oh the addiction. Quote
Zorro Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) Yes, your vignette looks so fine, too bad this represents reality... YOU DID SHOW HIM THIS THREAD, DID YOU? If you haven't already, please do so now, then he can read how other people think about such addictive behaviour...often addicts (to whatever they might be addicted...) think other people don't care about it or don't see it, and if they see it they MUST think it's normal. Well, that ain't so... CONFRONT HIM TO THE END, whatever the end might mean (separation, divorce, ending up broke). A for your creation, z_zadar! And I hope you can convince him to put a (very large) brake/stop on it. BTW: Did you ever consider NOT paying the phone/cable bill once "by accident?" Edited October 15, 2008 by zorro3999 Quote
z_zadar Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) I'm not sure on the head-choice for the man, though - he looks a bit old for the purpose. Ha-ha great eye for a details :) But sadly, the head-choice was chosen quite correctly because he is not quite so young. We are all in our early thirties, and we all have our little addictions. His to online poker, and mine to Lego. Thank you all for reply, I've showed him this tread, and I hope it will make at least small difference. Thank you all!! Edited October 20, 2008 by z_zadar Quote
Cpt. Willabee Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Thats really cool!! Mom used to be obsessed with online poker, but I got get off of it. Quote
Razzer Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Ha Hah! Thats great, although if I were you I would have put cobwebs by his camera something and given the woman a suitacase to show that she was leaving him ! Overall an A* MOC with brilliant details...*sigh* if only I could build that well... Quote
Inertia Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Nice little vignette, I like the computer and the shelf. The head choice for the man makes him look funny... I don't know what my girlfriend would do if I went on online poker though.... Quote
Dragonator Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 (edited) I'm addicted to dragons... and Lego. And coming on this forum every waking hour of my life. It's all good! Nice vig, it really does get the message across. Is that his camera, or is that camera watching him? Somebody is using that camera to cheat in the poker games! The computer is done really nicely, although I don't think a computer keyboard would go amiss. For your next vignette, I want to see one of you building with Lego. Lego Addiction ON! Online Poker Addiction OFF! Edited October 18, 2008 by Dragonator Quote
