LegoFranks Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Just built a new church from the pieces of the City Hall in the Town Plan Set. And also done up the cinema (not quite finished yet though. http://flickr.com/photos/shinkiller/2907129562/ What do you reckon? I have a problem with the religion of the church though as I'm an atheist. M. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 It is obviously the Church of Pastafarianism! Whatever religion it is dedicated to, it looks neat -- the green looks a bit off, but the front and entrance are very well built, especially the holes and openings, and the lamp is a very fitting touch. The tower and its blue inhabitant of course take the prize, though! -Ikk Quote
Lego12 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Nice Church. I saw you cinema and I also like it. I have Town Plan and its a beautiful set! Lego12 Quote
meschepers Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 All shall bow down before his mighty noodley appendage! I read your post and thought: why would an atheist construct a church out of all other city building possibilities. Please enlighten me to your inspiration. For the record I am not a religious person either (not an atheist by any means, just not religious). Quote
Eilif Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Nice job on the Church and Cinema. As for a church that would exist comofortably in a athiest or agnostic LEGO town, perhaps the "Church of the Flying Spagetti Monster" (google it) or Unitarian. Quote
Sir Dano Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 What do you reckon? I have a problem with the religion of the church though as I'm an atheist. I suggest Movementarianism Quote

For the record I am not a religious person either (not an atheist by any means, just not religious). Well, my Grandmother challenged me to make one as she thought that was missing from Shelf City and I should give Lego People the choice! :o/ Ah well, thanks kindly for all your comments! Look out for the beachside cafe and the Victorian Terrace! (Once I've got some more lime green bricks from BL that is...) M. Quote
Jones Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Great church, LegoFranks! I love the size of it, just perfect for a handful of pious minifigs. I'm working on a church of my own I'm hoping to show off to this site any day now. I'm also not religious but when I think of town essentials, there's no doubt that every town has a church. So I felt the addition of that familiar building makes my town looks more complete. I think it's more of an accuracy statement than a religious one, but I totally see why for many others building a church would seem odd and or out-of-place. That green color is so great for the church, too! Quote

LegoFranks Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 Hmmm, I recall there was one in Edinburgh when last i was there for Hogmanay! M. Quote
meschepers Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Thanks for the explanation on the motivation. Quote
Razzer Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 I too have expanded my cinema WIP(I'm trying to build a modular town ) but at the moment I don't have any more of the right blue... Maybe I should go ahead and make my first ever BL order... Quote
LegoFranks Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 I was lucky enough to get another Cinema from Town Plan off ebay for around a tenner... Yes, the complete cinema, so all the white, dark reds and the windows/doors too... Still, I did have to put in a BL order for more medium blue, dark green and worse of all, lime green! So rare... M.
