Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Hi! As you can tell from my sig, I am a huge Velvet Revolver fan (even though they need a singer....and they only have two albums....), but before that, I was a GNR fan. Who has better music in your opinion? Quote
Lego12 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I am a Guns N' Roses fan! I never even heard of Velvet Revolver... I'll have to check them out... Lego12 Quote
Kliq Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I'm a big Guns N' Roses fan. Not the current stuff, but the old stuff. Appetite for Destruction is one of the greatest albums of all time. I find myself playing it over and over, especially on the long drives back to school. Velvet Revolver has a few good songs so far, but I don't think they'll ever match what they had in the past with GnR. Quote

I must agree with your opinion, dear Kliq. Guns N' Roses all the way ! Velvet Revolver can't be compared to them (yet). Quote
Skinny Boy Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Guns 'n' Roses have some good songs, but I am a fan of neither. I remember hearing a Velvet Revolver song that was good, care to refresh my memory? Quote
Trexxen Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 (edited) I prefer GNR's old stuff, and actually their new stuff. Their old stuff is self-explanatory; songs like November Rain, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Paradise City, Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine...etc. The new stuff, only one song of which I've heard, is pretty much a different band entirely. But it's amazing. Shackler's Revenge is great, and TBH, Slash can't hold a finger to Buckethead when it comes to guitar. I'll edit this post with a video of the song when I get home from school. [EDIT]: I don't believe there's a reason (I don't, I hope you see this...) ~Trexxen Edited October 8, 2008 by Trexxen Quote
iamded Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 How can you not love Welcome to the Jungle? Really though, I personally prefer G'n'R, as I actually have heard their songs. Maybe if I get listening to Velvet Revolver my opinions will sway, but G'n'R is a great band. ~Peace Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Did you mean Axel Rose or Scott Weiland, being he was their singer previously? I grew up with Guns and Roses through junior high and high school and still love to listen to them today. Don't get me wrong, Stone Temple Pilots was a great band, and I was thrilled to hear that Weiland and the main part of GnR were joining up to form Velvet Revolver. Fall to Pieces and Slither are two great songs when cranked up. And yes, you may think that there are other guitarists out there who may kick Slash's a$$, but in a real fight, Slash wins. Plus, he is a really great guy to have a beer with. Therefore, Slash wins, no matter what band you go with. On a side note, Axel Rose really is a turd! Years ago, Metallica was at a show with Guns and Roses. Metallica went on first and had the "Great Pyrotechnic Mishap" where Hetfield got burned really bad, so Metallica had to cut their part of the show a little short due to medical emergency. When Axel Rose heard about what happenned, he said something to the effect that he could do nothing to match what Hetfield did on stage, so Guns and Roses never performed that night! What an megablock! Quote
