Captain Green Hair Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 That looks great, you're putting a lot of work in this with the characters and all! The layout is good, things still look a bit messy, but hey it's a WIP! Good luck man! Quote
Guss Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 hehe ImperialScouts ^^ maybe you'll survive! if the commander in the lighthouse aim well... and don't miss the prisoner :P thanks captain Green hair ^^ I actually Like that it looks messy, a fight with so many peoples is always messy ! I'll try to make it looks more ordered... But I don't know how. :( Quote

Zorro Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 It's good you are using members sigfigs Guss, but I already knew you were going to, I will ad my sigfig this week when I get home in the weekend, maybe you could find him a place in your MOC; (like an alepit cleaner or a crazy dude that thinks he's Zorro) PS: I was using reverse pshychology up there, I want to be important...(Viceroy, Admiral, Governor, Commodore, Superhero,...) That is, if you would add my sigfig... You have clearly made a lot of progress, but I will refrain myself from giving critic already since it is a WIP and most things I see I already mentioned or stand in direct relation with the fact it is a WIP. So far, so good ! Quote
Erdbeereis Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 This is looking really good Guss! I enjoyed reading about the different characters, especially myself. The little village is great and has many details. The one single thing I can think of to improve, is to add more blood and guts. I can't wait to see the end result! Quote
Guss Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 That is, if you would add my sigfig... I'll do it Zorro, If I have the pieces to makes it^^ I enjoyed reading about the different characters, especially myself. thanks Erdbeereis, I thought it can be nice to put a background at this scene^^ and sorry about your head , a rifle butt AOUCH, that hurts!^^ If you finish before the closing date and put up some good detail shots, i'll surely try and give some tips pirate_wink.gif thanks captain Green Hair, I'll try to improve it a little today, and to make better shot, the problem is that, on my little apartment, there is no light that make it looks nice , and the weather is cloudy , so I can't count on natural light ( the pictures I took are overexposed, 1/8s ... ) ,plus my camera is old.. it's a 9 year old numeric camera, 2.5 Mpixels, so it's kinda hard to make nice shots, but I think I'll try this afternoon ^^ Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 Well you are free to use my sigfig - so long as It's the one doing the killing! In regards to improvements, I would SNOT or plate as much of the ground as possible, and I would add something under the window of the middle building - it kinda looks empty there. Anyway, good job, and the very best of luck to you Sir! Quote
Guss Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 thanks a lot Captain Zuloo , I'm going to add some characters, and maybe add a desk or someone hidding from pirates under the windows ^^ is your sigfig the one I see on your profile ? I only had 1hats like yours, and it is on Dreamweb sigfig ... here :http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3465613 Quote

I only had 1hats like yours, and it is on Dreamweb sigfig ... here :http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3465613 My sigfig is the one that appears in my profile and in oceans on end. It is a general blue imperial torso, white trousers, and the same head as on Dreamweb. I also am known to walk the deck with cutlass in hand. If you have a shortage of tricorns, I would get some more as they can be used for pirate, navy and merchant. They are a very versitile minifig head peice. Quote
Adam Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 I can find no improvements that haven't already been mentioned, but for one: You have WAAAAAY to many pictures. Quote

Guss Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 (edited) of course I'll make a selection of 6 pictures , 800x600 for the contest ^^ Captain Zuloo I'm sorry but I can't make your sigfig : 1/ no more blue imperial torso :/ 2/ no more cutlass 3/no more tricorn 4/ no more head like dreamweb one :/ I'm really really out of pieces to makes your sigfig :/ I'll introduce Zorro3999 sigfig ( with a black torso , as he tell me ) , but I don't think I'll have the pieces for more sigfigs :/ this moc actually used the majority of my lego pieces, it only remains some tan, yellows , red and a little white bricks , the majority of my non-space minifigs are in too ^^ sadly I don't have a very large collection for now, lot of little old sets with not very useful pieces, but it sure will change^^ EDIT : I'll add these characters : from left to right, name : Zorro 3999 age : ask him weapon : a sword .. and something else you'll see in the moc. category : civilian name : MR and Mrs Johnson age : 41 and 44 weapons : none category : civilian Mr Johnson is a fisherman, Mrs johnson came to the dock to see him. name : Nesson age : 31 weapons : a gun and a torch category : pirate name : james age : 28 weapons : a spear category : pirate name : Dave age : 41 weapons : none category : civilian he is an explorer who wanted to make a stopover here.. the bad day ^^ Edited October 12, 2008 by Guss Quote
Zorro Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 The improvements you made looks incredibaly good, Guss. I am really looking forward to see it completed, and then I'll try to give some more suggestions/advise. If that would be possible, that is. With the improvements you made, I think you are in for the prizes! Where's my sigfig? Did you add it already? I don't see to spot him...or his personal guard...or the treasures carried by them...??? Quote
Guss Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 (edited) thanks zorro, you sig fig is in it , I just didn't uploaded the pictures^^ I photographied the moc but I need some times to select which pictures I 'll show, it's hard to show everything that is in this moc with only 6 pictures^^ plus I'm planning to edit the background to make something like in the Slyowl moc: because I really love this moc ! I think I'll modify my first post to show you the finished MOC this sunday. ps : I'm not sure I'll win a prize, and I didn't participated for it^^ ( even if I really love the bsb , and anyway If I don't win it, and I'm pretty sure I'll not be the winner, I think I'll buy it ! well.. when I'll find a job :P ) Edited October 17, 2008 by Guss Quote

Hehehe. I would however recommend getting more of those torsos and heaps more of the tricorns. Especially if the only way to get the tricorns in the new line is to buy the big sets. Those peices are in demand in my collection, and I don't know about you, but when pricing goes down on BL and Ebay due to the new line, I'm gonna pile em up high! Quote
Guss Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 captain Zuloo : if you want to, I can say that the burnt man near the burning shop is you :P well Actually I can't buy on internet ( no credit card ^^ ) , but I think I'm going to buy all the new pirates set, and maybe buy 2 boats ( I need hulls, I need sails, I need masts, I need canons... ^^ ) , I hope I'll have enough money to do so ^^ Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 captain Zuloo : if you want to, I can say that the burnt man near the burning shop is you :P You know, on second thought I'm quite happy to be left out of this MOC! I think a large number of sellers on ebay accept cheque - maybe worth a look now and again. Quote
Guss Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 there is no "cheque" in switzerland ^^ Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 there is no "cheque" in switzerland ^^ Oh bugger. Well now I know if I'm ever in Switzerland not to rely on my chequebook. But surely there would be specialty lego stores stocking old stuff in Europe, where they make the plastic gold? Quote
Guss Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 I just moved to switzerland ( some months ago ) and for now, I didn't find any Lego stores :/ I asked a Swiss afol, he said : " I think there's something in Zurich" .. well.. Zurich is at the other side of the country ( wich it smalls^^ something like 200-300km ) , but Swiss trains are really expensive, and I don't have a car . so I think I'm going to wait to have a job, then own a Visa card ^^ Quote

I think we should all partake in the send Guss a brick thing. Aw man. I'm wearing black. Sorry. Edited October 17, 2008 by Captain Zuloo Quote
Guss Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 Captain Zuloo : if you want to send me bricks, go ahead, I'll not refuse ^^ anyway I'll find a way to buy on the net, don't worry ^^ UPDATE ! now the final pics are here ! enjoy^^ thanks! Quote
Erdbeereis Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 That's really great Guss! All of your small buildings look very nice and the spreading flames look great. You have also made a great little story to go along with your MOC. I greatly enjoyed seeing myself getting smashed by a rifle butt! The only thing I can think to improve at the moment is: In some parts where the water meets the shore, you have the white plates built sideways with the blue bricks. I think this look great, but I'm not a big fan of the sections where you have upside down blue and white plates resting on top of the water. I think it would look much better if you would build all of them sideways. Besides that minor point, you have made a spectacular entry! Very good work! Quote
Zorro Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 (edited) Your MOC is finished. There are some small improvements that can be made, but since you are out of bricks it would be hard to do so. (like tiling some places as the beach and making enhancements to the waterlines) Spelling could be a bit better, mais parce que votre langue natif est Francais, je vous pardonne. I must say I really like the completed version, and I must repeat myself by stating that you DO stand a chanche with this, I also like the fact you went "all-out" with your bricks, that certainly counts for me ! And Guss...thanks for making me about the only civilian survivor... Edited October 17, 2008 by zorro3999 Quote
JimBee Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Guss, the final product is fantastic! So much detail! I especially like the brown cottage and the stubby ship. Great work, I really can't think of anything you can improve on. I wish you lots of luck on the contest! Quote
