JimBee Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Since when does wood rust? Besides, Rust is brown. Lime is a teal-ish sand green on copper, though. Hm, true, but I'm thinking of sunken ships. You know how they have all of that green moss and coral on them? I was thinking along those lines. Quote
Norrington Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Hm, true, but I'm thinking of sunken ships. You know how they have all of that green moss and coral on them? I was thinking along those lines. I mentioned that some time ago. Anyone who has been on a dock in tropical waters know that an assortment barnacles, weeds, and other marine life grown on dock poles. If you have a seaweed piece it might look good. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I mentioned that some time ago. Anyone who has been on a dock in tropical waters know that an assortment barnacles, weeds, and other marine life grown on dock poles. If you have a seaweed piece it might look good. But not at the front of the dock. That would look wierd. Try going for underneath, all the way. Quote
Legoking Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 This is a pretty good entry. It is amazing how you got all of the treasure cheasts, barrels, minifig and weapons to fit all on 1 small boat. I liked how you included the the captian's favorite bird standing on the pirate flag. It is a good touch and makes the scene more piraty. Nice job creating the dock standing on the base, water. I see towards the bottom of the pilings, you changed the color from brown to a blue water color. I noticed the pirate standing on the boat, did you use a custom decal for his face, cause it looks really cool? Are these modern day pirates or old fashion pirates because I see a t.v in there? Over all, I think you have done a great jod on your entry for the contest and I wish you my best of luck. LegoKing Quote
Norrington Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Well, Zulo. That's what I meant, but if waves are strong enough, weeds could get on the dock. Quote
Dreamweb Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 I noticed the pirate standing on the boat, did you use a custom decal for his face, cause it looks really cool? That's no custom - this is the face that was used in Ninja theme. Quote
NewRight Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 (edited) Late comment on the MOC! Nice work so far. Waves would be nice possibly. I also use a technique in this MOC of mine. It would be nice around the Docks to give and effect of waves crashing in on the dock. The smaller you make them the smaller the splashes around the dock are. It is just an idea to consider I am not obviously forcing you to do it. I really like all the boxes and barrels on the boat, it gives a feeling that they pillaging the Blu-Ray and DVD/CD collection as well. The dock looks great as well with the grime on the supports of the dock. I like some of the details in the Television as well and the flag on the back of the small boat is a nice touch. Great work so far, can't wait for the rest. ~NewRight Also welcome to EB have a great time. Edited September 27, 2008 by NewRight Quote

Legoking Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 That's no custom - this is the face that was used in Ninja theme. Any way, it was a smart choice to use it on a pirate. It looks good on him. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I have never seen something like this before A television, very funny and original But I miss the really "evil" piece in this MOC, but it is still very nice and funny to look at. Quote
Thomas B. Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Well, obviously this contest is based in the 1600s, and they didn't have TV, so this MOC didn't make much sense to me. There needs to be blood and gore, what a typical privateer does. As others have said before, the sand green doesn't seem to mix with everything else, even though I think you were trying to make barnacles. Otherwise, the boat is very well executed. Quote
Fluyt Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 It's a nice and fun moc, but it's not piratey (as in: evil) enough for this contest I think. The sandgreen bricks on the bottom of the dock are a nice touch as the seaweed and other stuff that would get on those poles, but it seems too uniform/abrupt, like it doesn't really blend or fit in with the rest. Quote
Zorro Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Fluyt (and others) are right. It is not entirely according to the rules and guidelines, not evil enough, it is really a nice MOC, but I'm afraid you won't win a price with it in THIS contest... Do not let that discourage you, there is still plenty of time left before the competion closes! (and you can make entries for the other classes as well) Best of luck ! Quote
