MKJoshA Posted April 20 Posted April 20 Here is my WIP for the contest. I can't win any prizes, but I want to build all the same! Quote
The Stad Posted April 20 Posted April 20 That is a wavy wall! Since I don't know what you're trying to portray from a narrative perspective, I can't really comment on how effective all the ingots are. That said, based on your floor pattern, it might be interesting to integrate some of the larger or smoother plates into your masonry pattern. That could help break up the pattern and tie the two surfaces together (if that's desirable to you, of course). Quote

Prizes or not, I hope to build for the other professorial challenges! Your serpentine wall is very nice! I like the extreme wave. It's a really bold look for Lego. When you make tight curves like that, you can get light leaks if you have a single layer wall. Two ways to help that: 1. Add the top track, bent to the same shape as the bottom. You can tighten up the sticks that way. 2. Add a solid wall (or piece of cardboard) behind the wall. Depending on what you're going for, if you want the wall to tie in with the flooring, you could add 1x2 sand green tiles or plates here and there. If you want to make the wall a bit more weathered, you can mix in plates and tiles here and there, and a 1x2 jumper is a great place to put some of the smaller limb pieces or various whips and what not for vines. The base of the wall can be bumped out by stacking a tile or ingot over a plate to make a wall footing (or slope or curved slope if you want), or you can hide it with more natural features, such as rockwork on the baseplate just in front of it (mixel joints can help with weird angles here). Overall it's looking nice! Can't wait to see the final build! And, of course, you're welcome to share more WIP shots later if you wish! Quote
