Ogre Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 There are also the usual small pieces spare as is common with these sets, nothing special though. I was quite surprised to get an extra sword and gold goblet in mine, along with the usual assortment of 'extras' (skellie arms, gems, etc.). I don't think I've ever had extra weapons in a set before. This set sure is expensive. So few pieces are given. But I like the minifigs especially the clown and the witch. Well, look at it this way...compare the price of this calendar to 9 'impulse' sets. Here in Canada, the impulse sets are $4.95 CAD (+tax) each. Calendar was $39.99 (+tax and shipping). Going by the 'cover price', it's like getting one impulse set for free. Brickblitz, thanks for sharing. This is a very comprehensive review, which gives us a good insight on its advent content. The jester, maiden, dwarf and the witch are the key figures which I am searching for, especially the maiden. She looks awfully sweet. I can't remember if anyone has mentioned this, or not but, the maiden has the 'double-sided' face...one calm, one 'startled'. Quote
Oky Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Woohoo! My Dad just came back from a business trip to Nuernberg, Germany, and he was able to pick one of these up for me! I'm so happy right now! Sorry, just had to get that out there. Back on Topic: I rated this set "Outstanding". It has lots of rare pieces in rare colors and almost all the minifigs you need for a nice castle scene; plus three exclusive minifigs! Truly outstanding! A king or queen would have been nice, but with all the things we are already getting with this thing, I won't complain. Thanks for the nice little review! Quote

I've still got my advent calendar waiting... Quote
hewkii9 Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I'm waiting too, but if I'm lucky I'll start at it on November 1st... Quote
Oky Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Have you also opened it before the 1st December? I've still got my advent calendar waiting... Yes. I need some of the parts for my small PTV contest entry. Quote
MoonCheese Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I'm not Christian, and I'll be opening this before 1 December. Doing it the normal way would be silly anyway as I will be celebrating the 21st of December instead of the 25th... I'm fine with there not being a King or Queen, as I already have 2 kings and 2 queens/princesses whatever. (King's Castle Siege, Skeleton Tower, Chess Set) Quote
UCSProductions1 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 This set was great because it offered a rather good amount of figures and useful little desinges that could be used in a moc to give it more detail and more like a real castle. Quote
