Hi everyone!
Here is my latest MOC: a botanical field kit inspired by 18th‑century naturalists.

I wanted to capture the warm, vintage atmosphere of a portable study set, complete with tiny tools and botanical tables. It was a fun challenge to design everything at scale, trying to make it both believable and coherent as a field kit.

Salut Marco,

That case and its contents are beautiful and so detailed!
Everything seems to be made with Swiss precision

In particular I like the compasses and the glass items.

Did you use stickers or printed tiles for the botanical tables?

Which part(s) did you use for the magnifier's lens?

Greetings, Justus

Hi Justus,

thank you! I’m really glad you noticed those details — the glass items and the compasses were especially fun and challenging to design.

Since this is a digital model, the botanical tables are “imagined” as printed tiles. I wanted them to look like old field notes, so I kept everything clean and print‑based rather than using stickers.

For the magnifier I used 2x part 18675 for the lens. Some of the other elements appear in colours that don’t exist in the real palette, but I chose them to keep the overall look consistent with the vintage style I had in mind.

Here is a better view of the magnifying glass:

Thanks again for your thoughtful questions!

Marco
