I am not too crazy about buildable dinosaur sets but Baby Pterandon looks cute. Β I’m pleased that we will get molded Mosa and that young T-Rex!

I don’t know what you queued me for?Β

Wow, 5 movies represented this time. And we have 4 styles of dinos: brick built fossil, brick built regular, junior molds and regular molds.

I'm not interested in the majority of the sets, but I will definitely bricklink the minifigures from the original trilogy.

The Mosa set looks great and I might buy it. My main question is, is that ship from Rebirth? I just don't recall a ship like that in the movie, unless I've forgotten πŸ€”

I like the build though.

Other than raptor and single-molded dinosaur molds, real really nice to have all new body parts for Mosasaurus without reusing any exuding ones since 2022 (Quezatcoatlus)!

Hahaha, no worries! I was happy to help reminding you :) I almost thought Brachiosaurus was all new but i forgot taht it has T-Rex tail so it’s only Quetza until Mosa set hitting shelves.Β
Now regardless of this Mosasaurus, I kinda wish they would introduce new arm parts for therapists. I’m kinda annoyed with those arms with spiky enjoys. I’m fine with therapod legs and herbivore legs but not those β€œspiky”elbows, lol. I’d and Therizinosaurus needs new legs (minus toe sickles).Β

New sets on the lego store! Im a little worried we havent heard anything about the GWP, hopefully thats still happening!🀞

And they are up for preorder! Β I think GWP will be suppsoed to pair with Jeep Wrangler set, correct? I think it will happen in May.Β

Definitely not. If the GWP was tied to the Jeep, they either wouldn’t offer the set for pre-order already, or would have attached it to pre-orders like the Kanto Badge Collection. Same goes for the other JW sets that can be pre-ordered :wink:Β My guess it’ll be a GWP that’s not exclusively tied to JW.

What does that mean exactly?

That you can also reach the threshold by buying sets from other themes :laugh:Β This is almost guaranteed Iβ€˜d say, since the GWP set is rumoured to become available on May 1st, and a week later when the Jeep releases it might already be gone :snicker:

There was only ever one GWP that pretty much forced you to buy old sets from one specific theme, and that was the Hagrid Brickheadz in 2020. Every GWP set since has either been tied to a specific set, or was eligible through purchases of sets from multiple if not all themes.Β

Itβ€˜s a smarter approach anyway, because a GWP can also serve as an introduction to a theme for people who usually wouldnβ€˜t get those sets

Ahh, well thats more comforting, thanks bro! I see exactly what you mean because the Jeep pre-order has the Star-Trek GWP tied to it! 😁

Heres hoping for the Gennaro and Toilet!🀞🀣

We're pretty sure that there is a gift with purchase just not right now I guess?

Itβ€˜s been confirmed a while ago. GWP sets tend to leak rather shortly before they get released, so itβ€˜s possible it wasnβ€˜t delayed ^^

I think I will buy both Dinosaur Fossils: Tyrannosaurus rex and Triceraotps, along with Jeep wrangler. I don’t care about those playsets or the buildable creatures but i will bricklink Mosasaurus and young T-rex,, molds, maybe Stegosaurus too.Β

Then there are the 18+ sets which we've already covered, so overall, a good wave I would say! I really like how we are finally getting to random sets now, so we arent stuck to 1 theme per year! Although hopefully next years will be just for TLW 30th Anniversary!!πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

We had Sets for Films along with ones for the animated series before, though, so it is not completely new - but of course it really is a wild mix, even not considering the 18+Sets.

My Favourite of the new Sets definitely is the Mosasaur one, and actually also the only one I am really interested in (from the playsets). The Pteranosaur looks kinda ok when he is flying but when he is sitting the legs looks just awefull, sadly the worst of the series, the first two were way better. The two 4+ Sets would be great sets if they wouldnΒ΄t use the Marvel Moulds and even the new young T-Rex Mould looks more like it was made alongside them, than anything near to the other dino moulds.

Honestly no idea what they were trying with the Spinosaur Set. I expected something similar to the other display Sets and it has a Jurassic Park tile, but the built itself just looks nowhere near to a display set, if they would have made a playset using the moulded Spino, would have been a way better choice.

Well there are some possibilities. It could just be no JW GWP and the rumour was wrong, the release date could get moved or it is exclusive to JW but you can basically only get old sets with it - which would still be a strange choice. If we wouldnΒ΄t have gotten the Disney GWP last year for all orders instead of just Disney, I would have said there is no way a licensed GWP ends up for all orders, but now it seems at least possible, even if it has been the only occasion since then - but even then it would make more sense to wait till actual new JP Sets are on the shelves...

Thats what I meant lol, past years have had a main theme, whether it be for a new film, anniversary, or even a couple waves for their own Lego original shows, and of course some of those years had the odd random set, which for the record I must say are generally the ones in which people loved the most🀣 (looking at you Indo vs Anko/JP D2C'S!) But this year is the first wave where there is not an actual theme and almost every set is based from a different source! But anyways, the good thing is that it means future waves can be similar to this strategy, because I do believe majority of the sets had an amazing concept, but unfortunately not the best execution, which is exactly what you mention in your other two paragraphs and I 100% agree with everything you said in those haha.

Same thing goes, I love that we finally have baby versions for T-rex, Pteranodon and Stegosaurus, but the moulds for them look quite cartoonish, and yes I am aware this is Lego and they have an aesthetic and also its targeted and children but I do wish they were slightly different.

As for Spino set, im not a big fan of brick-built dinos, but I can see why they didnt want to release a moulded JP3 spino just yet, as they're probably waiting until 2031 for JP3 30th anniversary, if the theme is still alive hopefully lol. Not to mention that stupid tile, the fact it says "Lego" breaks the fourth wall for me, and I've heard someone say a perfect line, which was, this set doesnt know whether to be a playset or a diorama and it suffers from that.

They definitely can, and I hope they do. But on the other site also hope we are going to get more waves (mostly) for single movies, like we got for Jurassic Park, especially for JP2/3.

You can clearly see looking at the adult and even other smaller dinosaurs (beta mould, young ankylosaurus/triceratops) that their aeasthic is a lot different from what we are getting now, so I just hope we will see better versions in the future. That also is the reason why I am so surprised about the young T-Rex, I hope it is just leftover from a canceled Marvel Set and wasnΒ΄t made for Jurassic World.

Yeah, exactly, as I said, that set just doesnΒ΄t make sense to me.

For sure! I mean, just looking at the foreseeable future, i'd bet my bottom dollar on these as the main theme:

2027 - TLW 30th Anniversary

2028 - JP8

2029-2030 - Random?

2031 - JP3 30th Anniversary

I'd love for this to be the case anyways so we as collectors can properly get the sets we've all been waiting for! Original Trilogy is the dream!Β

As for baby dinos, i wonder if there is a new person in charge of designing these, because the older baby Dinos, even Aquilops technically, look a hell of a lot better and less cartoonish than the recent Spiderman baby Dinos/Baby T-rex, i doubt they'll get remoulded soon though. And I wouldnt be surprised if we see that baby T-rex mould again next year but hopefully at least re-coloured a bit closer to Junior.

Although, 1 good thing I would like to note is the box art looks very beautiful like usual! Weird to not have Minifigs on the front of the box though lol

Well, they are made based of an cartoon, so them looking cartoonish makes a lot of sense. Still think the T-Rex was also designed for spidey, as this year they made a duplo version of a spidey T-Rex...

I highly doubt that. The one we got last year may look like a velociraptor, but it was supposed to be a T-Rex, so why produce a new piece afterwards that actually looks like a T-Rex, but not use it in a set?

The sets name literally is Raptor Battle, no idea what makes you think it would be a T-Rex ;).

Heβ€˜s literally called Spidey-Rex, and he only turns into a T-Rex in the show as far as I know :snicker:
