AJB2K3 Posted Saturday at 01:08 PM Posted Saturday at 01:08 PM Reading through the manual for the Robotics Discovery set, I see a reference to a "Scout Booster Set" but I can't find any detail on what this is. can anyone provide some information. Quote

A bit more context would be helpful. There was the "Ultimate Accessory Set", which had additional sensors and an IR remote control. The rotation sensor does not work on the Scout. There are some examples for the Scout and RCX in that UAS manual. Best Thorsten Quote

Toastie Posted Saturday at 02:52 PM Posted Saturday at 02:52 PM Ah, I see. Power Mode simply means that you can program the Scout in the same way, an RCX is programmed via the IR tower: When you use NQC, the target is Scout, in BricxCC you simply search for a Scout. Many opcodes for the Scout are identical to the RCX, with a couple of exceptions though, as the Scout has way more sounds it can play, whereas other opcodes are not available, etc. I have 6 Scouts here doing their jobs. The 396 bytes of free memory space on the Scout is a bit challenging in some cases ;) Back in the days, I asked Dave Baum whether it would be possible to have the short jump available in NQC, as this only eats away 3 bytes, whereas the (default) long jump needs 5. Dave gratefully did implement that feature in NQC; it decides when to use what jump format. As far as l know (25 years ago, I was very closely following the original Mindstorms electronics - one month, Fry's in Fountain Valley in Southern California sold The Robotics Discovery Sets for $30 - they were hiding somewhere high up on their electronic toy shelves. I bought all 3 :D) such a "Booster Set" was never sold - or maybe it was the CD "LEGO Scout Software Development kit"? That one came with the Scout tool and some other stuff, along with asm example files. But others here may know better! Best Thorsten Quote
