Shopping Street Baseplate

Hi all

Just started building the Shopping Street modular

Has anyone else noticed something a bit off with the baseplate?  It looks fine but it seems harder to push the plates and tiles onto it compared to other baseplates.  It also looks like some of the gaps between tiles isn’t as even as it used to be on previous baseplates

Have LEGO changed how or where these are produced?

I am just about past the baseplate stage of the build so will get over it but something defo feels a bit off.  With these sets being a reasonable chunk of cash you would hope the quality would be as good as previous sets
