Robin Revemann, the self-styled Bowman Bard of the Burial Isle, could often be found on a certain corner in Førstlys, just off the High Road, on a street that rose from the harbor, through the Upper Market, and past the Temple District. Here he would spend many an hour with his high, clear voice raised up in song, his nimble fingers strumming his lute, and his bright eyes casting a flattering gaze upon any blushing maid that might pass him by.

Though certainly no equal to his Kaliphlian counterparts as a student of history, and lacking the technical prowess of the famed Avalonian minstrels, he nonetheless composed and sang with an earnestness that endeared him to the citizenry, and his modest theatrics were more than sufficient to earn him a loyal following in this distant light of civilization in a far corner of Historica.

"Twas on this very stair a few years hence
A captain stood and faced down certain death
When many hero’s blood had fallen spent
And even lady fortune held her breath

Before him churned the raging tides of war
The gates were broken, inward rushed his foe
Yet here he’d stop their surge, or fall, he swore
His life he'd trade to turn the fatal blow

But fortune ever smiles upon the brave
And sacrifice with honor's ne'r in vain
So fate did guide our valiant hero's blade
And rallied then, anew, defenders came

Thus Makny Annensen our city saved
And cheated that grim warden of the grave"

It's good to be back in the guilds! I meant to submit this for last year's challenge, but it took me far too long to compose the accompanying sonnet, and it seemed too simple to submit on its own.  So here it is now.

A sweet little build. I like the combo of storytelling, actual build and the great sonnet.
Fig-placement is on the spot and I dig the subtle elevation or levels in the ground.
A nice touch of colors too!

Lovely build @The Stad and nice storytelling to accompany it! As already pointed out, I also like the subtle rise of the steps and the contrasting colors of the plants and flowers with the main color gray works perfectly!

Well done! Great to see you back too!  I love the coin in the hat. The lime goes great with the bright green on the vine, and you have a beautiful flowering plant at the top of the column with some outstanding floral density. The subtlety of the steps shouldn't be missed, as the one plate height increases are nice.  The evil brick built fig is great!  I have a difficult time working with that size fig myself, and I really have a hard time photographing all black, but you did a great job.  Look forward to seeing more!

Really nice vines on this.  I love the idea of telling a story and then showing the story in the same build, that was a great idea!
