KotZ Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 Hugo the Architect had set up his home in Nouvea Oleandia, looking for new prospects and buildings to design as the colony had been growing. Once his house was built, he found it was ready to take meetings with important officials, pitching them to hire him for whatever new project they might want, be it here on Crocodile Island or in other locations. Let's see if he makes the sale! Moving to the inside, we can see part of his house. On the first floor is a sitting room, and the second has his drafting table. The guest seems not thrilled at the moment. Perhaps he needs wine! I didn't want to make a full mansion, but wanted to show part of the elegance a house in Nouveau Oleandia might have, inspired heavily by the exterior of this Italianate Victorian here. The table for cartography was taken from Marin Brick Design's Cartography table, with a little less accoutrements. Enjoy! Quote
NOD Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 The architecture is very beautiful! I particularly like the loggia with its columns in the outdoor area. The railings, made of stone and cast iron, are also well constructed. The interior furnishings, including the curtains with golden holders, the table, and the comfortable sofa, look elegant. A glass of wine can certainly be helpful during negotiations. Allegedly, the Sea Rats also mix rum into the wine to improve negotiations. Quote

It took some experimentation to get what I wanted especially regarding furniture placement, but I quickly realized with the curtains in the way, and where the doors were, it would be hard to add more furniture. Ah that's why Sea Rats deals go in their favor! Quote
Khorne Posted December 13, 2025 Posted December 13, 2025 Another fine addition to the settlement. I like all the details and flourishes you added to the railings and the house itself. Nice to see an interior as well. Maybe the cobblestones outside could use some variation to mix it up visually, but overall a great build! Lovely to see you keep on expanding the world. Quote

It's a fun settlement to build in and try to back in NOLA/Louisianan influences that are slightly anachronistic in the real world into this. And thanks for the suggestion on the cobblestone; I never know if I'm going far enough on those, so next build will definitely have more variety. Quote
