Mandalorianknight Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I've had this idea in my head for awhile and discussed it in the main thread, but with 2024's small direct-to-consumer set that was a remake of the 2008 rebel and imperial battle packs, I thought it would be fun to moc up what some of the other sets of battle packs from that era would look like as "super battle packs" I had intended to start with the hoth one, as it was the following year's set of battle packs in 2009, but in a wild coincidence the box of the 2011 clone battle pack quite literally blew across the street onto my leg a few days ago. I have no idea why the box of a fifteen-year old lego set was floating around in the wind, but I thought it was as good a sign as any to start with the 2011 sets. However, unlike many of the other battle packs from that era, the primary builds in each 2011 pack were both canon and correctly scaled. This meant I had to get a bit creative, as you can see below: To keep the BARC and mandalorian speeder accurately scaled while still providing about the same mass and number of pieces as the 2024 super battle pack, I added an AT-RT to the clone pack and bulked up the turret/cover from the mandalorian pack into more of a cannon emplacement. Here's the clone side of things, I kept the color scheme on the speeder- I seem to redo my BARC design every year or so now, I'm pretty happy with this one even if I think the color scheme from the 2011 pack was rough. I gave the ARF trooper his AT-RT, keeping the colors in line with the horn company trooper's speeder. I also threw in a small bomb for the bomb squad troopers to disarm, because I don't quite understand why they were chosen to be the most populous units in a battle pack in the first place given their specialty role. Mandalorian side of things- lego did a soft remake of this set in 2020 with some more colorful mandalorians and less colorful builds, but their speeder was lacking. I updated the speeder, which was already at a good scale, and bulked up the smaller blaster cannon a bit with a third leg and stud shooter. The biggest change is of course taking the 10 piece turret emplacement and making it into a cannon emplacement. The cannon can swivel 360 degrees and aim up and down. I tried to make the actual walls resemble mandalorian architecture, as I assume the builds from the 2011 pack were meant to take place on concordia or mandalore. I like the speeder design the mandalorians have but I always find it funny that people with jetpacks are flying around on speeders. The set ends up at 7 minifigures and 383 pieces, coincidentally the exact same as the 2024 super battle pack I was basing the style off of. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and will probably be updating my physical AT-RTs and BARCs to this design (though definitely not this color scheme) and building a few of these speeders for my mandalorians. Let me know what you think and if you want me to try and do some of the other sets from this era, such as the hoth packs, the larger clone walker vs assassin droids, or even upscaling some of the 2012 two-legion packs. LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted 38 minutes ago Posted 38 minutes ago The addition of the mini walker and the base with the cannon is well done! Quote
