Spacefan Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 hi everyone, if you can give any feedback re this set - lookin to possibly get it shortly? many thanks for any tips Well the best part about it is that its BIG, and if you can't afford the large SW: 7676 Republic Attack Gunship (which is designed much better) I would recommend it. But here comes the not-so-good, its size is achieved by using many large parts connected with a technic scheme which leaves several open gaps. And for such a large ship it doesn't come with much of an interior, but that can be changed with some customizations. It uses the large City Plane wing, which seems to overwhelm the design, especially if you don't use the sticker decals with it. The 7644 MX-81 Hypersonic Operations Aircraft (or Hypersonic Spacecraft) is loosely based on the Ice Planet: 6973 Deep Freeze Defender from the early 90s and ironically that set actually has more playability features and options, and is a more solid design than the MX-81. And for it being a somewhat smaller set (but still large) thats saying alot, but I can say its indeed the case since I have both, so if you can find it on eBay or somewhere else for $80 USD or less, I would suggest get it instead. Corvus Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18247The Ultra Drill Walker is better, I'd say. Definetly. I modded Spacecraft to have 'some' interior, made the modules better, and got rid of some of the bars so it doesn't look like a jungle gym... but the Drill Walker still kicks bars @$$. Quote
jamzee Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 thanks everyone for the useful comments and links. Quote
Algernon Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Ultra Drill walker is by FAR the best purchase from the Mars Mission line. Quote
jamzee Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 I guess I see alot of inspiration from the legendary 6980 Galaxy Commander that I missed out on back along. UDW is safely stowed away for the ultimately enchanted time ahead... and I just feel a strange, instinctive draw to HOA aswel to try and re-kindle to the upmost extent yesteryear's space adventures...
