King's Own Guard, Tales of Old

In the heart of the kingdom of Kingdom of Corrington stands the formidable unit known as the King’s Own Guard. Clad in red-and-white quartered tunics—Corrington’s colours—and arrayed in disciplined ranks, they carry long spears whose polished points gleam under the northern skies. Each member wears a striking metal helmet, tall and proud, its silhouette crowned by a stylised whale-tail crest ringed with fur: a bold symbol meant to evoke both the kingdom’s mastery of sea and land and the Guard’s role as the “tail that sweeps away” any threat to the throne. Their presence at the royal court and on distant marches is unmistakable, a living banner of loyalty and martial precision.

Within their ranks the officers wear a further distinction: the roaring head of a lion emblazoned upon their tunics, marking them as leaders of this elite corps. These officers not only command tactics in the field but serve as the direct eyes and ears of the crown, entrusted with secrets and loyal only to the king. The King’s Own Guard is more than a fighting unit—it is the personal bulwark of the monarch, sworn in sacred oath to defend both his person and the honour of Corrington. Amidst nobles whispering revolt and the realm reeling from defeat, the Guard remains unwavering, the last line of red-and-white defiance beneath the crown.

Well done, I like that! The unit is really formidable. The clothing, weapons, and helmets are very well combined.

Helmets?  I don't know, but your build reminds me of the 3rd anniversary of our first meeting with my girlfriend. While I was at work, she called me and congratulated me on my anniversary after our first meeting. Of course, I haven't forgotten it and I remember it too. :innocent2: When I was driving home from work, I stopped at the gas station to fill up with petrol. When I wanted to pay in the shop I saw a flower vase and bought it.

Me: "Hello, my love, congratulations on the anniversary of our first meeting. I have a beautiful vase for you."  :pir-triumph:

She: "Thank you for the lovely gift. :pir_tong2: Unfortunately, I've already eaten, but I'll cook a protein-rich dinner for you."

For dinner I had cucaracha soup with maggot bread. :pir-oh:

Interesting addition to Corrington's roster and lore. I like how people are working with the material and that there are some impetuous Taemric characters, some Corlanders skeptical of the King and then those who'll still defend the King despite his weak rule.

Personally for me, the helmets work better in a Slavic or (North-)Eastern European setting with the fur and everything and the distinct shape, but it certainly does help to make them stand out from the rank and file soldiers in the army; which is most likely the intended purpose.

Background-wise they remind me of the Dai Li from Avatar, but perhaps the King's Own Guard is less sinister . Only time will tell.

Also, a practical question: how did you remove the spade from the helmet? Since these aren't dual molded and dark tan is the plastic base color, how didn't the metallic print come of as well when you removed the spade?

Edit: nice spears as well, where did you get those?
