Malnaborg Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Hi everyone. First of, i know this is a train forum, but a nice user recommended this forum from Brickowl. So here goes :-) Maybe we have some technical people in the forum that might help :-D With the mentioned set in the title, i am working on the car and gears. It would seem that the motor, and the gold gear is not turning, or at least only very little. It has new batteries and all, so that could not be the issue. I tried to clean the gears and stuff for hairs and other goo, but it still is of no help :-/ Should i just give up, on this old thing, or would anyone have ideas ? Here is a picture of the motor and tech https://ibb.co/GQbFHt5T Quote

It seems it is connected with cables to the PCB. If you can get it out: Does it spin without any load? If not, then it may be the motor. Next step would be to learn more about this motor ... Malnaborg Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Hi Thorsten. If you mean the screw at the red plate, it does not hold the motor down. But apart from that, i can lift the motor a little, so it is free, but the golden wheel still does not turn or anything. Only very small increments to left or right. Oh and not shown on the picture, but there is of cause a cogwheel connecting the golden wheel with the rest to turn the car wheel :-) Quote

Can you turn the brass gear manually when lifting the motor away from the remaining gears? If it does not, then it seems to be the motor, if it does, then further investigation (e.g., apply an external power supply to the motor after de-soldering one of the original wires) seems to be warranted. Malnaborg Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago Yes all gears turn normally. And without force. So it seems like the motor in it self. But, it has been used by children, so maybe it just needs to go to lego heaven 🤣 I am not not technical to solder and fiddle with the motor 😁 Quote
