Auroralampinen Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Hi it's again the time when i strike back with a new moc:). This time I will show the newest member of the Soapbox collection. And the Soapbox collection flagship model. The miniature combine harvester:). (please note. I'm not an expert with agricultural machinery. And this is my first attempt to make a combine harvester. And I did a lot of searching on how combine harvesters work. But if you want to see more realistic combine harvesters, please check out @eric trax youtube channel. He is a living legend for agricultural machinery, https://youtube.com/@erictrax?si=pvuhm1bW33eMXklj :).). Free instructions:). https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-238324/Auroralampinen/miniature-combine-harvester/#details Functions:). Specs. pieces 774. Functions:). Functions. Easily removable side panels for maintenance work, Grain outlet can be operated by hand, Openable Grain tank doors, Right wheel drives blowers, 1 sylinder engine and straw outlet, Left wheel drives the cutting blade/reel, Cutting blade can be raised and lowered, HOG steering for rear wheels. Interior includes a simple blue seat:). Pictures:). Here are all of the Soapbox collection models:). And yes, the harvester is builded on a smaller scale:). Here is Miniature combine harvester next to a coke cherry can. For size comparison:). If you made this far. Have a nice halloween:). Edited 2 hours ago by Auroralampinen Quote
Auroralampinen Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Here are some behind the scene design and building stuff:). Well, since this is the flagship model from the Soapbox collection line up. This has 58 pieces more than the dump truck:). And it's kind of fun to think that this model has 7 good quality functions. Even thought this is small. And yes, the functions needed a ton of engineering to make they work. And i did design this with functions in mind. So first camed the functions and then the looks:). And if you are wondering why this doesn't have a differential:). Well, i did build this first with a differential. But the raise and lower mechanism for the front blades didn't fit with the differential. So i decided to split the functions for both wheels to drive. And about the off set engine. It had to be made off center because othervise the cam would hit the HOG steering gear. So i had to engineer the engine off center to not cause any interfearance. And every square inch has been squeezed for functions. And the blue seat idea did came later. Because i first decided this would not have a seat. But after building and testing i noticed a seat would be possible to fit. So i did made a seat:). And one more fun fact of the Soapbox collection models:). They all start from the same chassis. All Soapbox collection models start with a flip flop beam, pins and connectors and 5.5L axle for the drive wheels:). Here is a picture of all of the Soapbox collection models chassis:). Auroralampinen Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Well, about the size. When i did build this i didn't think too much about the small size. But yesterday's evening i got a though that this might be the smallest working technic combine harvester with 7 functions. And i did look on rebrickable combine harvester moc's. And camed to the conclusion that this is the smallest one ever made. But if some one has made even smaller working combine harvester with these functions. Let me know i would be really intrested:). And fun fact about the side panels. The easily removable side panels did born from pure happy accident. I did build this with angled side panels and i did not think the removable side panels would be possible. Until afterwards i noticed they were easily removable just like on the real machine. And i was really proud of implenting this feature by accident:). Quote
