Hello!

Over 30 years ago, I got into Formula 1. Even before that, I started building with pieces from old metal construction sets.

Today, I still watch Formula 1 and have the chance to build things using LEGO parts, along with some electric components from other brands.

Here I’m showing off a chassis that I think works really well for building LEGO Formula 1 RC MOCs.

There's a simple example of the outer design too. You can watch a short demonstration video:

I didn’t aim to create an exact replica — my design elements pull inspiration from different years, ranging from the early 1980s up to the 2010s.

The chassis at this scale (with rear wheels at 68.8x36mm and front wheels at 56x28mm) turned out to be pretty light and reliable, weighing about 650g.

Once I added the outer design elements, the model weighs around 900-925g.

The Formula 1 chassis model features:

- 3-speed gearbox;

- independent suspension for all the wheels;

- steering system with a working steering wheel.

For the electrical parts, I used:

- power and control from the BuWizz 3.0 Pro;

- BuWizz-motor/MouldKing-Baggy-motor for movement;

- LEGO PF Servo motor for shifting the gearbox;

- LEGO PU L motor for the steering system.
