Aleh Posted July 11 Posted July 11 (edited) Hello Eurobrickers, please welcome my new MOC Soviet Tower Crane KB403/KB405 from the last century made of Lego Technic. Fully RC, reproduces the original crane working principles and construction. ~2350 parts The main idea was to implement all real crane mechanics including the crane ability to assemble himself. I was lucky to cope with this. Will try to film another video about the assembly process from the ground to the working position. The original crane has two winches for 4 features(!): 1) Winch is being used for raising the main tower and keeping it, then at the final assemble stage fixed jib's strings system being integrated into this and the same winch being used to raise a jib (while keep in a vertical position the main boom) - implemented here 2) Winch with temporary string cord to grow sections inot the main tower, when the tower is full - the new string being repaced with a new one for the hook. I though this is "too much" for lego and added a third which for hook and made that assembly winch permanent. Please enjoy the video! All images: https://bricksafe.com/pages/Aleh/tower-crane-kb-403 The designing and implementation was very hard due to lack of a blueprints and high level of complexity. To understange the level of this crazyness just see what blueprints I've used to reproduce the string cords mechanics: The MOC has the following electrics: 2 M motors to move 4 x 2 carriages on custom rails L motor for hook winch hoist L Motor for the booms supprt L Motor for the jib carriage movement 3 IR receivers, 2 small battery boxes. Building instructions are already available https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-227638/OleJka/soviet-tower-crane-kb-403/#details Edited July 12 by Aleh Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Impressive! Those pulley mechanisms certainly do look complex! The self-assembly sounds very interesting; I hope you do make a video about it! Quote
