XG BC Posted July 5, 2025 Author Posted July 5, 2025 Well, now the köf has a motor! https://flic.kr/p/2reWsYT Quote
zephyr1934 Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 Very nice, and the full copper taping of the plastic rails looks great Quote

zephyr1934 Posted July 7, 2025 Posted July 7, 2025 Looks better than the silver tape and the fact that you went all the way down the outside makes it look much more like a "rail". Will be neat to see the Kof go under track power. I've seen folks splay multi strand wire and use that as a track pickup. Quote
XG BC Posted July 7, 2025 Author Posted July 7, 2025 i have tried slot car brushes (which is kinda the same thing) but it wont work because of the dead section in the switch, i need a "ski style" pickup, like märklins. Quote
XG BC Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 today i made the pulley for the belt covered, so the locomotive is complete again. i used a door piece. initially i tried a bracket, but that didnt work because it was too short. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted July 8, 2025 Posted July 8, 2025 It's impressive to see this beauty in action! Quote
XG BC Posted July 8, 2025 Author Posted July 8, 2025 i am currently looking for power pickups. do you guys think a 4.2cm long märklin one is long enough to clear the gap of the switches without issues? that size would be perfect for the locomotive as it is now. Quote

Those doors are surprisingly handy for covering things in tight spaces. I had a similar experience in the past year where the door was the only thing that would fit Quote
Man with a hat Posted July 9, 2025 Posted July 9, 2025 Wow, amazing. Incredible what you managed here. Quote
XG BC Posted July 9, 2025 Author Posted July 9, 2025 Thank you! i will update you guys when i get the pickups. Quote
XG BC Posted July 14, 2025 Author Posted July 14, 2025 update: got the pickups today, they fit very well, havent tested it electrically, only done a test fit so far. its like they are made for that locomotive, they clear the gap on the switch electrically, dont get caught on the gap either. Quote
XG BC Posted July 15, 2025 Author Posted July 15, 2025 (edited) Today i installed both pickups, it works very well, after adjusting the pickups a bit to be (close to) flat. Edited July 15, 2025 by XG BC Quote

XG BC Posted July 15, 2025 Author Posted July 15, 2025 (edited) thank you! even going through switches is not an issue , the lenght of the pick up ski is longer than the gap in the switch, it doesnt get caught on things either. Edited July 15, 2025 by XG BC Quote
XG BC Posted July 18, 2025 Author Posted July 18, 2025 Here are some pictures of the real thing: the cab: the other side of the cab: This locomotive is part of a small monument, to show where a now demolished part of a railway began, that part is now a bicycle path, on the other side is the remaining active Part, where a lint dmu runs once an hour out of the valley to connect to the main tracks. I decided to make that scenery in lego: the gray crane was once at the station at some other place, but the area has since been redeveloped and only one track remains of the former station. Quote
XG BC Posted July 25, 2025 Author Posted July 25, 2025 I have now made a smaller version of the diorama irl, some details arent perfect yet. Quote
