zeki Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 As we are getting farm sets and harvester, i've started thinking how to create wheat field. I'm not planing to put just yellow bricks onto the fiel as i'm looking for some details. Anyone has any ideas how to create a wheat field? Quote
Stauder Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I saw somone make a corn field here, for wheat I would use 1x1 antennas, in yellow. And lot's of em! Staudie. Quote
Tenorikuma Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Does it have to be wheat? I bet someone could come up with a good corn plant. Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I've seen some pretty sweet corn fields before, and they were made just like Stauder said, but with tan 4H antennas instead of yellow. I think they're rather rare and expensive, but you can't get any better! Quote
SlyOwl Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I used this technique in my latest MOC - Upside down brown plates with yellow (I would have used tan, but don't have any) hands in the "tubes", which then connect upwards. Battle droid arms add variation and colour. It's quite weak, but effective (not then best picture). Quote
WhiteFang Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 I like this one too: Jopiek, that is a very simple and interesting technique to illustrate wheat field. It's very nice. Now, how can we pushed the farmer into the field without damaging the wheats? Quote
Fatespuppet Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 Wow, all those must've cost a fortune, but they look great as a wheat field. My only concern is that the size of the new combine is as big as that entire field. Would be like having a lawnmower for that little strip of grass out front of a brownstone in NY. Quote

Yups in Holland are the fields a little bit smaller than NC ;) and we have larger combines but not those huge ones. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 It's a very nice technique! From the looks of it, they are made from a tan lightsaber blade and a pin/axle, but i can't see how they are attached to the plates? I'm thinking he drilled the plates....doesanybody know about that? It could also be achieved with headlights horizontally placed ofcourse... Quote
zeki Posted August 25, 2008 Author Posted August 25, 2008 (edited) I like JopieK's version...it looks so real! I love it Edited August 25, 2008 by zeki Quote
DJ Force Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I like this one too: Any idea how the tan bars stick in the ground? I cannot think of a connection piece. And those aren´t tan antennas, are they? Quote

BigDumbWookiee Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Any suggestions for other vegatation like corns, beans, etc? Quote
Erdbeereis Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I think they are tan lightsaber blades and that there are holes drilled in the plates Must have been some work drilling all of those holes... I was worth it though, as this field looks great. Quote
Asuka Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Must have been some work drilling all of those holes... Put away that drill, I guess some round 1x1 bricks with hollow stud´ll do the job too... Quote
BatonMedved Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I think the first idea of using 1x1x4 antennas is the simplest and the best. The main advantage of it - its easily removable, so u can really "work" on your field grabbing plants with front thing and leaving liing staff behind you as in real - great effect at all. And the color is not problem - buy any able antennas and paint them by yourself using aerograph. Quote
The Cobra Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Put away that drill, I guess some round 1x1 bricks with hollow stud´ll do the job too... Taking a look at the full-size pic, I guess that's exatctly what the MOCcer chose. Quote
Athos Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Here's some that I did: Pumpkins and Wheat. More pumpkins. Grapes. Corn. More corn. Sprouting crops. A brickshelf search turned up these: Crops. Various plants. Farm. I know there are others, Steve Quote
JopieK Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 (edited) Any suggestions for other vegatation like corns, beans, etc? Hmmm, I guess you just want to get idea's from us huh, I would say, just check brickshelf.com, there are a lot of idea's there! But maybe you can also have some fun with this one: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=333712 Edited August 26, 2008 by JopieK Quote
Tenorikuma Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Here's a nice vegetable plot that includes some corn. Quote
Zarkan Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Well, since I'm going to be making a low budget farm display next year, I'm planning to use a ton of yellow 1x1 bricks stacked in columns of four to simulate wheat. I know it doesn't look as good as some of these other methods, but it's very cheap and you don't have to modify any pieces. For tomatoes, I bet using 1x1 round red plates on top of small green plates will work pretty good. Squash could be done the same way, only with yellow plates. Quote
DJ Force Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 You could also use these: Unfortunatly it seems the lever base doesn´t exist in yellow or brown, but you could build a perfect field with this piece. Quote
