Courleciel Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Hello, All is in topic's title. What are you thinking ?? Quote
tin7_creations Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 not likely... the sets were released to go with the movie, and based on the critical reaction for the movie, there wouldn't be a sequel, thus, no more sets. Quote
Matn Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 And I can't really think of a reason why is should be continued. Not that they were bad sets, not at all (with exception of the red truck), I don't own any of them, but I will buy them eventually. They can't put the same cars in an other style in new sets. It was a fine serie, with cool cars. Quote
Batbrick Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 I hope it isn't. I almost liked the red truck when I bought it, but the figures were cool. The fact is, in my opinion, that it is a one notel ine that never had a hope of a second wave. it was good while it lasted though Batbrick Away! Quote
ForceMaster Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Yes, sets by Speed Racer are released for film, and even incomprehensible, why Lego produced series on the first meeting film. Of course, I think, that Speed Racers will be life only one year. But this theme contains awesome pics, right) Quote
The Rancor Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 I wish Lego could create cars in a similar design to Speed Racer with motors! However, I really, really doubt Lego will release any mor Speed Racer sets. Quote
SWMAN Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 I am thinking that with the flop of the movie, there will be no more sets. Quote
MightyMegs Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Well... there is a brand new Speed Racer cartoon this fall. Quote
WhiteFang Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 The possibilty of a second wave Speed Racer sets are very slim. Why? Because I believe the 4 sets which is released earlier, was meant for promotional purposes for the Speed Racer movie. These sets was aligned to the movie, and not the actual cartoon itself. Many of us had mixed feelings towards Speed Racer. I, myself had that congnitive feeling as well. Somehow, I hope it won't come back. I am sorry to all Speed Racer fans/collectors. I don't meant anything personal. Quote
tin7_creations Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 (edited) I hope it isn't. I almost liked the red truck when I bought it, but the figures were cool. The figs were really cool. The only good part about these sets (for me) were the huge assort of fleshie heads and torsos. I think I built the cars, and then dismantled them instantly... kept the figs though. I think I built the cars, and then dismantled them instantly... kept the figs though. Yeah, i agree. My favorite of all the heads was Snake Oilers. I also loved the piranha tank. I wish that there would be a 2009 Speed Racer theme because it would mean more cool parts and figs, but i dont think its going to happen. Quote
Courleciel Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 Ok, Thanks for your anwsers. I hope that it will be possible. Other question, Do you think there will be Harry Potter 6 sets ?? (I dn't want to create a new topic for that). Quote
Joebot Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Other question, Do you think there will be Harry Potter 6 sets ?? (I dn't want to create a new topic for that). I don't think anyone really knows. The status of the Harry Potter license is ... unclear. We only got one set from the fifth movie! And now the sixth movie has been postponed from November until July '09, so if TLC is planning to continue the theme, the change in the movie schedule will probably impact their release schedule as well. Quote
The Nightwing Reborn Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 I never saw the new Speed Racer movie, as I was never a fan, but I would like to purchase that Grand Prix set just so I could get some more fleshie heads. Harry Potter is a different story for me as Joebot said, the status of the licence is unclear. We can only hope . TNR Quote
samthelegoman1 Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 There wouldn't really be a reason for new Speed Racer sets, but they could just make random cars and make another storyline. Quote
Batbrick Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 There wouldn't really be a reason for new Speed Racer sets, but they could just make random cars and make another storyline. I doubt they'd be allowed to personally. Unless you mean just as a non license theme? Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I doubt they'd be allowed to personally. Unless you mean just as a non license theme? But then, of course, it wouldn't actually be Speed Racer. Quote
Batbrick Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 But then, of course, it wouldn't actually be Speed Racer. Oh be quite! Actually, it'd be pretty cool if Racers made a mf cars line. Batbrick Away! Quote
Millacol88 Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 It is a shame when this happens. A decent line of lego, with cool figures and vehicles, that will most likely be discontinued because the source material was crap. Quote
Brainbox Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Actually, it'd be pretty cool if Racers made a mf cars line. Like Drome Racing but, you know, better. A decent line of lego, with cool figures and vehicles, that will most likely be discontinued because the source material was crap. Oh I don't know, I didn't think it was that bad. Quote
snake1992 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I think with the flop of the movie and the fact that the anime never really took off over in europe and was more populare in the states is good enough reason that there won't be another series. It was a good line but I think it was also a one trick pony. Quote
Millacol88 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Like Drome Racing but, you know, better.Oh I don't know, I didn't think it was that bad. I thought the movie was terrible, and so I doubt the line will continue into '09. Quote
5150 Lego Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Well... there is a brand new Speed Racer cartoon this fall. Very true. Though i still think the possibility is low of a second wave, its still possible with the cartoon coming. I thought the movie was terrible, and so I doubt the line will continue into '09. Just cause YOU thought the movie was terrible, doesn't mean the line won't continue. There are some that thought it was good. Though the possibility of it returning is slim, it is possible with a new cartoon. Ya never know..... Quote
The Brick Rat Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I thought the movie was terrible, and so I doubt the line will continue into '09. I won't continue into '09, but not because of any fault of the movie. At Brickworld this summer, a LEGO rep stated that Speed Racer was a one-off theme. The four sets we got were all LEGO had any intention of releasing. Quote
LegoLyons Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I won't continue into '09, but not because of any fault of the movie. At Brickworld this summer, a LEGO rep stated that Speed Racer was a one-off theme. The four sets we got were all LEGO had any intention of releasing. It's a shame in some ways, but I do have all the sets, the number of cool pieces in the sets make these very good sets to own, I also think they will become quite valuable in the future. Woolworths in the UK have the Grand prix set for £17 well worth a purchase! Quote
