not likely... the sets were released to go with the movie, and based on the critical reaction for the movie, there wouldn't be a sequel, thus, no more sets.

And I can't really think of a reason why is should be continued. Not that they were bad sets, not at all (with exception of the red truck), I don't own any of them, but I will buy them eventually. They can't put the same cars in an other style in new sets. It was a fine serie, with cool cars.

I hope it isn't. I almost liked the red truck when I bought it, but the figures were cool. The fact is, in my opinion, that it is a one notel ine that never had a hope of a second wave. it was good while it lasted though

Yes, sets by Speed Racer are released for film, and even incomprehensible, why Lego produced series on the first meeting film. Of course, I think, that Speed Racers will be life only one year. But this theme contains awesome pics, right)

Well... there is a brand new Speed Racer cartoon this fall.

The possibilty of a second wave Speed Racer sets are very slim. Why? Because I believe the 4 sets which is released earlier, was meant for promotional purposes for the Speed Racer movie. These sets was aligned to the movie, and not the actual cartoon itself. Many of us had mixed feelings towards Speed Racer.

I, myself had that congnitive feeling as well. Somehow, I hope it won't come back. I am sorry to all Speed Racer fans/collectors. I don't meant anything personal.

The figs were really cool. The only good part about these sets (for me) were the huge assort of fleshie heads and torsos. I think I built the cars, and then dismantled them instantly... kept the figs though.

Yeah, i agree. My favorite of all the heads was Snake Oilers. I also loved the piranha tank. I wish that there would be a 2009 Speed Racer theme because it would mean more cool parts and figs, but i dont think its going to happen.

I don't think anyone really knows. The status of the Harry Potter license is ... unclear. We only got one set from the fifth movie!

And now the sixth movie has been postponed from November until July '09, so if TLC is planning to continue the theme, the change in the movie schedule will probably impact their release schedule as well.

I never saw the new Speed Racer movie, as I was never a fan, but I would like to purchase that Grand Prix set just so I could get some more fleshie heads. Harry Potter is a different story for me as Joebot said, the status of the licence is unclear. We can only hope .

I think with the flop of the movie and the fact that the anime never really took off over in europe and was more populare in the states is good enough reason that there won't be another series.

It was a good line but I think it was also a one trick pony.

Very true. Though i still think the possibility is low of a second wave, its still possible with the cartoon coming.

Just cause YOU thought the movie was terrible, doesn't mean the line won't continue. There are some that thought it was good. Though the possibility of it returning is slim, it is possible with a new cartoon. Ya never know.....

I won't continue into '09, but not because of any fault of the movie. At Brickworld this summer, a LEGO rep stated that Speed Racer was a one-off theme. The four sets we got were all LEGO had any intention of releasing.

It's a shame in some ways, but I do have all the sets, the number of cool pieces in the sets make these very good sets to own, I also think they will become quite valuable in the future. Woolworths in the UK have the Grand prix set for £17 well worth a purchase!
