MarronMocs Posted June 13 Posted June 13 (edited) Hi! I have been working on a star destroyer model for a little bit now and I am in need of some opinions on it. It is still a very much work in progress project, but I thought it would be a good idea to get other people's impressions of it before I start ordering the parts to test build it. It is meant to be a Imperial 2 class star destroyer. I don't know all the differences between the class 1 and class 2 so it probably has some inaccuracies. I think the current turret design is more like the class 1 and not class 2 but I am not sure, so if you know please let me know. At the moment the model is made up of 7000 pieces and is roughly the same size as the Lego UCS star destroyer. Thanks a lot! Edited June 14 by MarronMocs Quote
Ellisss_2 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Looks great, particularly the greebles, did you design the internals similar to 75252? I assume you haven’t gotten round to finishing the rear section of the superstructure where you can see the technic beams, only place I can see for improvement. Quote

You are 80% correct - the turrets indeed look more like the so-called "class 1" (though they have two barrels instead of one correct). "Class 2" ISD turrets have 8 barrels and look like this: BTW, considering the firepower of the so-called "class 1" and the classification of warships by their firepower/purpose, I insist that it should be called "the Imperial cruiser" (like they did in ANH). While similar to the Star Destroyer, its purpose is space battle rather than orbital bombardment, therefore it has different, single-barreled turrets (everything in this paragraph is my personal headcanon, though supported by movie evidence and real-world logic) Oh and by the way, your build is superb! Thanks for sharing it! Edited June 14 by Max_Lego Quote

Thanks for sharing it! Thanks a lot. I spent a little bit time redoing the turrets. I am a bit limited on space so only able to fit six barrels per turret. I will spend a bit more time refining it but it looks more accurate now than the previous design at least. 1 hour ago, Shiva said: Looks nice :) Thank you :) 7 hours ago, Ellisss_2 said: Looks great, particularly the greebles, did you design the internals similar to 75252? You are right, I have not finished the back neck section just yet. The internal skeleton is not complete yet either. I want to test what I have got so far so see if it actually holds up before refining it and make it look nice. I know that the superstructure internals looks like a mess at the moment, so a lot of refining there. The bottom panels have six attachment points each. I hope this is enough to hold it up, but only time will tell. Quote
