Note: Traditionally, all minifig customization projects should appear in the Minifig Customization Workshop, but an exception is being made in this case. Eventually, an index of all of these will appear there.

1978 in Minifig History

For many, 1978 is considered the first year of what is now being called Classic Town, as it was the year we first saw the fully articulated minifig. It was an exciting development for LEGO, one that would continue to this day.

The 1978 minifig assortment included a nice range of townsfolk including police and fire personnel, a Red Cross worker, a Shell gas employee, and a number of normal citizens going about their daily business.

For the current fan of Classic Town history who is up for a little customization, recreating these figures is a fairly easy task. As a matter of fact, a number of these were originally stickers, as opposed to the later printed torsos more commonly found in the line. The fireman, for example, was used in the line for many years, and always as a sticker.

Here is the full 1978 range of custom torso decals for your enjoyment.

Optimized for printing at 600dpi (1.551cm x 1.227cm).

We at the Classic-Town.net Museum of Art History hope you have enjoyed today's offering. We look forward to bringing you more years of minifig torsos and decals in the near future. As an added bonus, we are currently creating variations on these decals, new colours to give you even more options in townsfolk.

We will also be producing a series of Set Restoration projects designed to allow you to recreate sets from the past, using modern decals. Those will be presented as individual projects, literally taking you through the fun and challenging set restoration process from beginning to end.

Cools idea - but where are the (red and white) classic space guys? :cry_sad:

They were like the away team of LEGO, therefore, they're all dead or in sickbay.

This is cool.

Any 1979 in minifigs torsos available?

Hmmm... I guess you'll just have to wait and see.

<hint> Oh, and an announcement... This isn't the last of these yearly reviews I'll be doing. </hint>

We will be able to print it for you (www.MiniStickers.nl). We have a special printer that can also cut it like a torso sticker. We use vinyl instead of that ugly decal material like they use in Modeltrain/plane groups. So you can always contact us if you are interested.

This is the sheet that we have currently available:

But most of the old stickers aren't that colorfull so we can create cheaper sheets (or larger for the same price) for quite some of the older torso's.

B.t.w. we use vector files. I'm not sure if a png will work but I think I need to recreate it as a vector (ai/eps/...) first.
