maiq the liar Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 can i get some advice on making Lego related stop motion videos with a olympus stylus 600 camera, please? Quote
Big Pete Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I've only ever made 1 video with lego stop motion ( ) but I would give the following advice :1. Fix the camera in 1 place ... use a tripod, if you can 2. Use a remote control for the camera (if you can) as this means you're not touching the camera and therefore not moving it 3. Set everything up in a place where you can control the natural light. It's best if you can cut out the natural light and instead use consistent artificial light 4. Practice first so you know what you want to achieve 5. Use a baseplate where you can and secure it in 1 place There are a number of websites which you'll find from a simple google search for "lego stop motion" that give much more detailed tips that this. Last of all, good luck :) Quote
hewkii9 Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 You might want to try Brickfilms for advice on this. Quote
Scouty Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 You might want to try Brickfilms for advice on this. More specifically, read the BF Resources , they're chock full of information! Quote
Kingboy Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) Apparently there's been a weird schism forming due to issues revolving around the sale earlier this year of the Brickfilms site, and parts of that community have migrated over to Bricks In Motion and the forums over there. A lot of brickfilming institutional knowledge can be found over there as well. This post isn't an endorsement of either site over the other. Some folks only go to one or the other for whatever personal reasons, some go to both. General Stop-Motion animation sites (non-LEGO specific) are also helpfull. Animate Clay is a pretty decent one to start at. Any information you can find on general movie making will help as well—scripting, lighting, audio work (vocal, music and foley) and video editing, you might need it all at some point. There was new management at BF and the management did some stuff (Removing the current Admin Schlaeps because he was creating another site). I pretty much stopped going to BF (not just because of the first incident) after they sent a Cease and Desist e-mail to Schlaeps. Eventually blackmailing him, too If you're starting BFing, I would really look at BF's resources, as they are valuable. But with the new Bricksinmotion site in construction, that might soon change . Anyway, I hope you find these resources valuable and hope to see great films coming from you Quote
