badboytje88 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 (edited) There are some very usefull Playmobil assessories. Sorry for the crappy pics, Ireally wanted to put this online tonight. The pic on the left is for size comparisation with a normal lego fig. All the animals look great with lego. The size of the animals is better than most of the official lego animals. So what do you think? Edited August 8, 2008 by badboytje88 Quote
CopMike Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I think LEGO is LEGO and Playmobil is Playmobil - and they were NOT ment to be mixed! CopMike Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Speaking as a member of a younger and more corruptible part of society, I must say that I wouldn't have known about those bottles being playmobil until you mentioned it. Those hedgehogs are also looking mighty fine...so I say, go ahead! But be subtle. Quote
BlueBard Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 It's true they work quite well, even replacing some elements Lego doesn't have yet. Nevertheless, I'm a Lego purist so I agree with CopMike. Lego should not be mixed with anything Quote
Inertia Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Those are nice hedgehogs, but I don't feel that these should be mixed, Playmobil parts may be too big and possibly crack or break Minifig hands. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I think I'm one of a few around these parts that collect Lego and Playmobil, but I have to agree with CopMike. I don't like to mix the two, although I do draw some inspiration from Playmobil when it comes to Lego MOCing. In fact, I don't like to mix any non-Lego elements with Lego (that includes Mega-Blocks and other construction blocks). I have some of those bottles from the Playmobil (PM) Golden Nugget Saloon (I think), but I prefer to keep them with other PM. Definately an interesting topic though. I'd be curious to read what others feel about mixing. Quote
Kingboy Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Let me throw out the first "Bah!" to purism then for this discussion. I'm not to keen on those animals myself, but I'd love to get hold of some of those bottles(especially after seeing ), and my Dwarves would like some appropriate drinking vessels as well. The option of having a decent cellphone would be nice as well, as well as a handful of other various tools. Really, if it fits to scale visually, I don't see this as any different than using something from Brickforge, Brickarms or any other customized piece vendor (still want to see about getting some of arealight's fantastic hairpieces one of these days). If there was a Playmobil equivalent to Bricklink out there, I'd be ordering up some bottles and such for my minfigs to get their drink on. Quote
badboytje88 Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Nice to read all your comments! This is turning out to be quite an interesting topic! I am a purist. 99%. I don't do decals. I don't customize. Nothing. But I do like these little animals. The scale is actually much better then the official lego animals! Lets see what other people think about this! Quote
Pickerel Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Hmmm.... I'm not a purist ( I both make and buy custom things and decals) but I never ever would mix Playmobil and LEGO. Like Copmike said I think LEGO should be LEGO and well... actually I don't care what Playmobil does as long as they don't copy off TLC (or do illegal things)! I strongly am against clone brands and would never buy them! I'm not saying that Playmobil is a ripoff of LEGO ( unlike those *shudder* other brands) although is did certainly take inspiration off TLC's designs. Quote
skinkfem Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 its the other way around actually. basically playmobil does a new theme and two-three years later lego does something similar. seems like tlc considers playmobil an unofficial tester to see whats can be sold and can´t. as for me, i mix lego with warhammer Quote
Lego12 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I think LEGO is LEGO and Playmobil is Playmobil - and they were NOT ment to be mixed!CopMike I agree. They were never to be mixed, its like a rule , and you broke that rule! You will pay.... Well the bottles of beer make me think of a song.....here's a funny video about lego beer: Quote
Norro Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I'm a 99% purist. I've recently been persuaded to tolerate bley God Bless, Nathan Quote
badboytje88 Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 Jojo made a squirrel from lego parts that looks actually really nice! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3326841 What do you guys think? Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I suppose I’m rather heretical when it comes to mixing, I have no problem with taking some Playmobil bottles for taking some photographs in an MOC, I wouldn’t store them together but I can see no harm with them coming in for images etc. I rather like the oversized bottle myself. 5150 Lego Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 I think LEGO is LEGO and Playmobil is Playmobil - and they were NOT ment to be mixed!CopMike Couldn't disagree with you more. If it works, why not? There'sno writen law that says you can't mix the two. There are plenty of parts in there that would work great for Lego mocing. I'm all for it as long as it fits in. Quote
prateek Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 playmobil is too big for lego but battleship pegs are the perfect size for minifigs (sorry for the off topic-ness) Quote
