dougidle Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Hi Everyone, This is only my second posting here (my first was in the intros section) but I thought I would post some pictures of my modular bank I built a few months ago to see what you all thinkand hopefully get some suggestions for improvements (I still need to add an ATM on the front). I took the old yellow Metro Station as it's inspiration and I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. It also has a full interior: Cheers, Doug Quote
Skinny Boy Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Great interior, I don't think i've ever seen a yellow bank. Still Really good. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 A yellow bank maybe its made of gold . I don't really get why there is a cafe in a bank but oh well. The spinner door looks really nicely done as well as those stairs. Keep up the good work and welcome to Eurobricks! Quote
Fatespuppet Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I really like the exterior on this. The yellow is definitely quite striking, and in my humble opinion could use something to help break it up. I'm definitely no expert though, but I think if all the 'raised' details like the arches were kept yellow while the recessed details were white it would be striking. It looks like you have used tan and it seems to be washed out by the yellow. Then again it could be much easier to pick up in person. In either case excellent job! Quote
I Scream Clone Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Nice modular design there dougidle! The interior is really nice, though for me the yellow is pretty in your face. Maybe it needs some other colour to break it up a little. Maybe light or dark bley or even tan, not really sure. Keep up the cool work, and I also really like the swinging door too. Cheers ISC :skull: Quote
Sandy Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I can only admire the construction with all its nifty details and decorations and great furniture, but I have to agree with the other commentors about the excess of yellow. Nothing against it as such, but the building could use some other colors to go with it. Maybe more white? Some stone grey? It's up to you, anyway. I do like it very much, though! I don't really get why there is a cafe in a bank but oh well. That's not a café, silly! It's a two-story apartment. Quote
Inertia Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) Cool I like how you've used Minifig accessories to lighten up the build Also I like the yellow, it's a classic TLC building Color, and I have seen a yellow bank before. A Maybank. Edited August 10, 2008 by Inertia Quote
Skipper 24 Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 I see Sandy. It's like one of those shops with a house on top except for it's a bank and not a shop. Great idea Dougidle. Quote
Dr. Brick Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 This is really nice! I love the interior. There is a lot of yellow but I think you can solve that by putting it beside buildings with other colours. One question: Could we have a picture of the back? Thanks! Keep up the good work! Dr. Brick Quote
dougidle Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 Thanks for the comments everyone - I guess yellow isn't everyones cup of tea (but is mine) :-) Yes, it's an appartment on top not a cafe. I wasn't sure what to do with the other floors but I didn't want to leave them empty - an appartment seemed the obvious choice. Here's the picture of the back you asked for Dr. Brick: You can also see some more shots on flickr from here if you're interested: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dougidle/sets...57603870321550/ Cheers, Doug Quote
