MKJoshA Posted April 22 Posted April 22 Mysteries How to Play: Create your build/moc (My Own Creation) Photograph your build, write a fitting background story, and post your entry to the Forum (remember to include the prefix [Square - System - Faction] in your title - see example below). Example: [L7 - Ord Mantell - DS] Hunting for Bounty Hunters The GM will submit your entry, for scoring, by filling out this form. You will earn your XP after the judges have scored your entry each Monday. You can see those scores at the top of your entries and you can see totals for the game here. Welcome! Welcome to Mysteries. A Star Wars RPG run by Eurobricks. Our goal is to provide a fun place for Star Wars builders to meet each other, grow in their building skills, and have fun playing the game. Mysteries is a strategy Lego Star Wars RPG set in the Expanded Universe/Legends timeline of Star Wars. Our game is focused on the Legends timeline and characters, but if you want to include elements from the Disney timeline like the Mandalorian that's fine as long as it doesn't contradict the Legends main events. Some of those events are detailed in the Timeline section below. This is a strategy RPG but we also want to help builders improve their skills. Any level of builder is welcome to participate and as a community we'll try to provide instructive feedback on how to take your MOCs to the next level. Players choose 1 of 3 teams to join as they seek to assert their influence over the galaxy and solve its mysteries. Each team has access to different parts of the galaxy and different bonuses that can be applied to their member's builds. Freebuilds can be any size and are allowed any anytime. Special challenges happen regularly and will have building requirements and provide bonuses. Episodes happen as teams meet the requirements for each episode. We can see the old rules here and the even older rules here. Solve the Galaxy's Mysteries! The Mysteries RPG will start during 4 ABY. And we'll progress along the timeline as challenges and episode contests happen. You will join one of three teams, each looking to exert influence on the galaxy. The teams are The Light Side, The Dark Side, and The Mercenaries. The first mystery was solved by reaching Rorgam in P10. The Dark Side reached it first and discovered Hondo's hideout. He revealed that there is a madman on the loose, striking out at Imperial, New Republic, and independent forces alike. The second mystery is to find the madman's base. Every grid space with 3 or more planets has a clue to his whereabouts. The first team to track down 3 clues will solve the 2nd mystery. A clue is found by gaining control of the planet with a clue on it. A Brief History Lesson The Clone Wars ended in 19 BBY (before battle of Yavin) The first Death Star is destroyed in 0 BBY/ABY The second Death Star is destroyed in 4 ABY (after battle of Yavin) The Lusankya leaves Coruscant in 7 ABY The Thrawn Trilogy takes place 9 ABY *The Mandalorian discovers the Child in 9 ABY *Since this is part of the Disney timeline it is not ranked as highly as Legends events The Jedi Academy Trilogy takes place 11 ABY Star Wars Mysteries is not part of Star Wars canon and therefore liberties will be taken in regards to characters, timeline, and stories. But we are going to use the Legends timeline as a base from which to work. Getting Started Choose a team and announce it in the appropriate team thread. Once you choose a team you won't be able to switch so choose wisely! Read up on the Core Rules here! This subforum, Star Wars Mysteries, is used for this game. As such, you should only post your entries to Star Wars Mysteries here. When posting a build for your team please include a prefix following this format [Square - System - Faction]. For example, [P7-Garos-LS] New Republic Forces for the Light Side, [M10--Ator-DS] ISD Bridge for Dark Side, or [S10-Kor Hestilic-MC] Cantina Brawl for the Mercenaries. After you post on EB make the GM fill out a Submission Form so your builds can count toward your team's points. A sheet with all the public data from those form can be viewed on the Public Sheet. How does the game work? Players post builds, earning XP and take territory for their team. Every build you post will give your Team XP (Experience Points) in the appropriate system. Once a Team earns 50 XP on a planet, they gain control. Once a team has 3+ planets in a grid they gain control of the whole grid and open up new territory. Getting Started Choose a Team, create a Eurobricks account, and send a message to the Team Leader asking to join. You can start building right away. If you have questions about how to title your posts or how to fill out the entry form be sure to ask your team leader, the GM MKJoshA, or your fellow players and we can help you as you get started. Welcome to the Galaxy That's the basic overview of the game. While the initial learning curve can feel steep, it quickly levels out, and the bulk of the strategy is on the shoulders of your Team Leader. They will be glad to help you get involved as much (or as little) as you want. The benefit of the game's depth is that it provides a rewarding experience where you can have an enormous impact on the state of the galaxy. The full rules are below. Feel free to ask if you have any questions! Mysteries is a place to grow as a builder and enjoy a community of like-minded Star Wars fans. Just build a Star Wars MOC, post it for your Team, and tell your stories in a galaxy far, far away. Quote
MKJoshA Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 Core Rules The main goals of the Mysteries RPG: To be a community of amazing Star Wars builds, world-building, and story-telling. To encourage building unique MOCs in an open universe. To help your team solve mysteries. Challenges Mysteries This season's mystery is to find the madman's base. Every grid space with 3 or more planets has a clue to his whereabouts. The first team to track down 3 clues will solve the 2nd mystery. A clue is found by gaining control of the planet with a clue on it. Hints for which planet contains a clue will be given as rewards for winning Episode challenges. Example: O9 is home to the Hapes Cluster, a dense grouping of planets. The clue in O9 could be on any of of the dozens of planets in the Hapes Cluster. It's not enough for a team to control any planet in O9, they would have to have 50 XP on the 1 planet with a clue. In contrast, M5 only has 4 planets. The odds of finding the clue in M5 are much higher. Because the Dark Side won the last mystery challenge they have been given the location of one of the clues. They can chose to go for that planet directly, or try to throw the other teams of the trail by going for a different planet first. Episodes Episodes are biggest build events of the Mysteries RPG. An episode will progress the overall storyline of Mysteries. Special rules and conditions will apply to each Episode and there will be in-game prizes for the winners. Limited Time Challenge As the name says, a LTC is a challenge that runs for a few weeks, usually with extra XP as a reward. LTCs are often subject to a theme, topic, or a certain technique constraint (e.g. a theme like 'land speeders', a topic like 'rebellion', or a technique constraint like 'color purple'). Bounties Every few months Hondo will offer a bounty for the capture of certain ships and other items. Everyone will be able to build their version of the ship or item being sought after. Whichever entries scores the highest will earn a bonus 1 XP to be placed anywhere in the galaxy with some exceptions. (This is a great way for your team to gain access to planets it wouldn't have access to otherwise.) Earning and Using XP Each build posted by a player receives a score, which equals the Experience Points earned for that player and their team. Experience Points (XP): is tied to the player. XP tracks experience in the game. Each build a player submits can earn up to 30 XP. The criteria by which your MOCs will be scored is 1) Storytelling, 2) Aesthetics, and 3) Technical Ability. You can earn up to 10 points in each category for a max total of 30 points per entry. Storytelling will be judged by how well your MOC communicates a story. Written dialogue or background can assist with this. But the emphasis will be whether the Legos tell a story by themselves. Aesthetics will be judged by how "good" you MOC looks. Do your colors clash? Have you used textures well? Do the minifigures fit the context? Etc. Technical Ability will be judged by how well you use building techniques. SNOT, NPU, and movement are all elements of this category. XP will be earned in the order that it is posted. If two Teams are trying to control the same System, the Team that posts 50XP in builds first will take the planet, regardless of when the builds are judged or forms are submitted. Quote
MKJoshA Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 Teams Each Faction is led by a Faction Leader. There are three teams to choose from, each with their own perks. The Light Side This team is made up of those who call the Jedi allies and friends. The New Republic, CorSec, Rogue Squadron, etc. The Dark Side This team is made up of those who call the Sith allies and masters. Imperial Remnants, ISB, Sith Cultists, etc. The Mercenaries This team is made up of those who look to profit from the highest bidder or have other values that don't fit nicely within the doctrines of the Jedi or Sith. Smugglers, Syndicates, Mandalorians, etc. Team Details Each team will work together to win challenges, access more parts of the map, and accomplish its own goals. The team is led by the Team Leader. To begin with the leaders are: TBD for the Light Side @Professor Thaum for the Dark Side @Jody Meyer for the Mercenaries As the game progresses the leadership team will consist of the players with the highest XP. The Faction Leader will be the player with the most XP in his/her team. The Co-Leader will be the player with the 2nd highest score. Those two players may appoint further deputes to assist with leadership decisions and communication as necessary. If Faction Leader is out scored by another player, but is still an active member of the team, they will be allowed to continue to help with team leadership if they so choose. If at any point a team has less than 500 XP than the 2nd place team, they will earn double XP for their entries until their team is no longer 500 XP behind. Player Details You may only choose one team and will not be allowed to switch so choose wisely! Keep in mind that you are allowed to build any kind of aesthetic. So if you join the Light Side you can still build Imperial style MOCs. Each player builds for his/her team. As they build they will earn XP. The sum total of a team's player's XP makes up the team's XP. Quote
MKJoshA Posted April 22 Author Posted April 22 The Map Each team has access to different parts of the Star Wars galaxy. We are using skud14's map with his permission. This map has most planets from before the Disney era. If you feel a planet is missing please let MKJoshA know. There are different ways to access different parts of the galaxy: Planet control, Grid control, and Hyperspace Routes. Planet Control (50 XP): If you control a Planet, you may build on any Planet in that Grid. Grid Control (50-150 XP): If you control a Grid, you may also build in all 8 adjacent Grid. Example: If you control O7, you may also build in N6, N7, N8, O6, O8, P6, P7, and P8. At times players may want to build on a planet their team does not have access to or is not on the map because they want to include it for story purposes or aesthetic elements. This will be allowed after teams have chosen a capital planet. At that point these kinds of builds may be submitted for XP on their capital. Hyperspace Routes If you control a Planet located on a hyperspace route, you may build on any other Planet located on that route. If you control a Grid that a hyperspace route passes through, you may build in any of the other Grids that the route passes through. A route is considered continuous until it end at a T-junction or intersection with 4 or more exits. Example: Quellor (N12) can access Commenor (N10), but since Commenor has 4 exits the route ends there. Exodeen (left of Quellor in M12) can access Quellor and beyond because there are only 3 exits out of Quellor and Exodeen doesn't hit a T-junction there. In fact, Exodeen can access Quellor, Gyndine, Nanth'ri, and Daalang (and all planets inbtween) before it stops. Zirulast (in P11) can go all the way to Gyndine in O12 but then it stops because it's the end of a T-junction. Example: If you control Commenor (N10), you can build up to Zeltros (O10). However, you cannot build on any of the routes beyond Zeltros because there are more than 4. You also could not build on Ithull (O10) because it's not located on the route between Commenor and Zeltros. But, if you controlled the Grid (O10), you could build on Ithull or any other Planet in Grid O10. In the case that Grid has no clear hyperspace routes entering or exiting the Grid, you can access it by controlling an adjacent Grid (see Grid Control above). Example: The Jedha system is found in Grid H10, but has no visible hyperspace lanes. A faction may access it by controlling one of the adjacent grids (G9, H9, I9, G10, I10, G11, H11, or I11). Another example: Bakura is in G16, but only has one hyperspace route entering from the right (H16). If a faction is blocked from that hyperspace route, they could also access Bakura in in G16 by controlling any of the adjacent Grids to G16 (F15, G15, H15, F16, H16, F17, G17, or H17). Controlling the Map When it comes to map control, Planets and Grids are the two primary map elements. A Planet refers to a named location in a Grid. For example, you can build on Corellia in M11. Or you could on Center Point station, which is not named on the map, but since it is closest to Corellia you would be earning XP on Corellia. A Grid refers to an abstract square zone in the galaxy. Sectors and Regions are also abstract zones used for navigation, and to identify affiliation. Planet Control (50 XP): Once a Team has earned 50 XP on a Planet, that Planet is under their control. Opposing teams can take over or retake a Planet by scoring 25 XP more than the current Faction. If two teams have 50 XP in a system, the team that got to 50 XP first has control, and the opposing team must earn 25+ XP in order to get control of the system. Grid Control (50-150 XP): Controlling three or more Planets in a Grid, grants the Team control of the entire Grid. If more than one Team controls 3 or more Planets in a Grid, control is decided by who controls most systems by majority. If there is a tie, the Team that controlled it most recently retains control until another Team gains system control majority. If a Grid has fewer than 3 Planets, all Planets must be controlled to control the Grid. Quote
Max_Lego Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) I have a question. I would like to finish my Thrawn vs Mnggal-Mnggal story, which is set in the Unknown Regions. Am I allowed to build there (even if I don't score any points)? My planned build also fits one of the May the 4th contest categories. I'd certainly like to apply it both to Mysteries and the contest (judging by the contest rules, it is possible). What forum should I post it then? Mysteries or Watto's junkyard? I'm going to post the first Episode challenge this weekend which will give you a way to earn points for MOCs set in places you don't have access to. So maybe wait till I drop that and then let me know if you still have questions. You can absolutely build for both. You'll just need to post it in both Mysteries an the Junkyard so it can count for each. Quote
Professor Thaum Posted May 4 Posted May 4 A question for me : for the control of hyperspace routes, what about the 5 majors ? Should we consider as T-junction, only a junction with another major or a junction with any other lane crossing the major ? Quote
Jody Meyer Posted May 8 Posted May 8 sorry colour blind question. is K5 merc / thug territory? section? Quote

MKJoshA Posted May 9 Author Posted May 9 On 5/8/2025 at 12:43 PM, Jody Meyer said: sorry colour blind question. is K5 merc / thug territory? section? The Mercs have 2 planets in K5. So you don't control the entire square, but you can build on any of the planets in K5. Quote
