Porsche96 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 (edited) Nissan Skyline R34 an alternate model for 42154 Ford GT Specifications: Length/width/height: 50/19/15s 40/15/12cm Scale: 1:12 Weight: 917 grams Parts count: 1399 Features: Front independent suspension and rear live axle suspension Working fake RB26DETT engine RWD Steered wheels by HOG HOG can be hidden in the trunk Openable doors, hood and engine bay The idea to build the Skyline R34 from this set came up to me just when I first saw it. The dark blue color perfectly matches this car – it showed in similar color in 4th part of Fast and Furious. But as usual with my builds, it took „a while” to finish the model. The biggest challenge while building was the width of the whole car. According to the scale it should be 19 studs, while Ford had 23 studs. In this scale, with this wheels and using only Ford’s parts I couldn’t find any good solution for independent suspension in the rear. So I chose live axle. But it also wasn’t so easy, because of the wheel track in the front and in the rear. In front apart from the suspension on the axles there are also dishes, which are expeneding the width. In this case when the rear axle was 19 studs wide, the rear wheels were placed narrower than the front, what is totally not appropriate in this kind of vehicle. On the other hand when the axle was 21 studs wide, the wheels stuck out too much in relations to the bodywork. Finally, the rear axle is 20 studs wide and is moved 0,5 studs relative the bodywork. Beyond that this model is not a philosophy: steered wheels, working fake RB26DETT engine and openable doors, bonnet, trunk. You can hide the HOG in the trunk, so the model looks better on the display. I used almost all pins and there are only 5 parts in dark blue left: two mudguards, two round tiles with Ford GT logo and one 3x1 panel. Paul B Technic Posted March 15 Posted March 15 It is really easy to see what this is based on, well done on this design and build. Quote
