KotZ Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Long had he been gone, it was time to return home. Emile Perrault had gone quiet for awhile and having purchased a new ship, Le Retour, he reasoned it was time to return to Nouveau Oleandia and Oleon at large. Hopefully he still had coin in his coffers to pay for this frigate. He needed to check in with his close friends and crew, hopefully they would be back there, along with his wife, Elise. Cannons were to be loaded before setting sail, and the sails needed to be unfurled. Oh look, there are some cannons! The crew was efficient, even if Emile was not used to them and needed to learn their names. It was time to go home. So it's been a looooong time since I've built for BotBS and Oleon, and I want to get back in it. I had the base of this ship sitting around for awhile and the past week I just went in and built this to get it done. I'm definitely a little rusty when it comes to shipbuilding, but I think it's not too bad. It's essentially a longer, modified version of the Pirates of Barracuda Bay ship for the broadsides and stern, and then kind of... I have no clue. I think this would be classified as a frigate. And of course to make things harder for me, I decided to do string rigging, which I haven't attempted in maybe 10+ years. I guess my fingers are too large for the ratlines, so I didn't even attempt those ! Overall, I'm pretty happy with this one and it's given me some ideas for other ships or parts of ships I want to do for more BotBS MOCs, as well as diving into more builds for the game in general and the story of Emile and co. I still need to register this (I think we're still registering builds, right?) Side note, somehow I do not have single version of Emile's faceprint in my apartment I built this in, and the multiple copies I have are back at my parent's house, but this face was close enough. I'll do some digging to see if I do have one hidden somewhere in my unsorted bins, but for now this face will work. Hope you all enjoy, and of course comments and criticism are always welcome. Long live Oleon! Quote
NOD Posted February 10 Posted February 10 It's nice to read something from Emile Perreault again. Very beautiful brig (brig 2 masts, frigate 3 masts) in Barracuda ship design. Good construction of the hull and flat ship decks. Innovative idea when building the capstan. While most of the sailors are working, one of them is holding a bottle of "medicine" in his hand. Sea Rats know that this is a cough remedy. Quote
Kai NRG Posted February 10 Posted February 10 She's a beauty, very polished, great colors, looks like it'd be pure eye candy on a shelf. Quote
Khorne Posted February 10 Posted February 10 That's a great build and worthy addition to Oléon's fleet. Glad to see you building again. It's also testament to the design of the new Black Seas Barracuda, that you can largely follow those lines, change some stuff and still make it unique and good-looking. Quote

I feel like the capstan is probably so basic compared to what other people do. Ah yes "medicine!" 3 hours ago, Kai NRG said: She's a beauty, very polished, great colors, looks like it'd be pure eye candy on a shelf. Thank you! Now all I need to do is make some room... 2 hours ago, Khorne said: That's a great build and worthy addition to Oléon's fleet. Glad to see you building again. I agree, the new BSB is really strong in that sense. Quote
Garmadon Posted February 14 Posted February 14 That's a sweet vessel, mate! Lovely color-scheme, and the gun-deck shot is just perfection (I do have a soft spot for ship interiors, ) Any chance we'll get to see this beauty with sails unfurled? Quote
