Whether you display them in a case or a frame, how do you keep track of the exact catalog number of your minifigs?

I currently have a large collection of IP (SW, Disney, etc) minifigs. Right now, they are all individually packed in mini zip lock bags with the catalog numbers and corresponding set numbers written with a Sharpie on the outside.

However, I eventually plan on displaying them inside IKEA Sannahed frames, with those custom plastic inserts (mostly from eBay). Not sure what the best way is to still keep track of their catalog numbers, other than perhaps having a list written somewhere and hiding it inside the frame.

Any ideas?

I don't record the specific catalog numbers, but I have a few spreadsheets listing official names (or my own names in the case of BAM and custom minifigs that don't have official ones), quantities in my possession, origin set/source, and--crucially--which compartment of the storage containers they live in so I can find them when it's time to use them in a display or MOC! And I don't do this for all my minifigs, just the "loose" ones (CMFs, etc.) that I don't store with the sets they originally came with.
