Yappiland Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Hi, I was thinking if we could find out and compare the easiest, but best way to create a motorizable Lego car chassis, that has working turning system, perhaps similar to the one in 42123 and is able to move, but without a differential or any additional, performance enhancing parts. This is for my new series of Custom technic cars. Thanks for the help! Quote
JoKo Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 I'm sure we can help you with some examples. You want to build a remote controlled car, right? About the same size as the 42123 McLaren? Do you already have motor, servo, technic bluetooth hub or remote controller? Quote
Yappiland Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Yep all that, but I have an idea relating to the turning system of the 42123 Mclaren, not size Quote
JoKo Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 OK so what size have you in mind? Have you an idea about the wheels you want? The steering system of the McLaren is indeed simple and you can easily connect a servo on the steering axle You can also take inspiration on the McLaren to motorize your car. You can connect the motor to the rear wheel instead of the V8 fake engine. Did I answer your question? I can help you with building a chassis but i need to understand what you have in mind. Quote
Yappiland Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 Hi, at the moment I'm looking at medium sized chassis, around 28 studs in length will be ideal, Im a new poster, so Im a bit amateur, the idea of using the Mclaren is great, I actually tried to motorize the car and the Lego 42151 too but couldn't find a good tutorial and couldn't do it myself, regarding parts, wheels would be the same as the Mclaren as that is the car that currently supplies my parts and all, Im starting a motorized car build but really, I don't know where to begin so I ask for help on the framework and what to pick, what motors, what design and what to add or not, at the moment a simple turn and move chassis would be fine. Thanks a lot. Quote

JoKo Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 I found this: It should work with your wheels too. If you don't have a differential stop the video at 3:20 and build this instead (then back to video at 3:34) Quote
Yappiland Posted December 20, 2024 Author Posted December 20, 2024 Thank you so much, ill have a look, as this is exactly what I needed, but I don't have the frame or gears posted in the pictures, I think I'll need to buy those. Quote
JoKo Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 (edited) @YappilandYou're welcome! This solution could work too. These gears will work just as well! Not sure about the frame but it's worth trying. Edited December 20, 2024 by JoKo Quote
