Umbra-Manis Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 The time has come, to take a journey far below the surface of Nocturnus. In the halls of those who have never seen the sun, lies one of the most extensive deposits of knowledge that elven-eyes have never seen: The Grand Archives of Vacunani. We will take a journey through the eyes of Novice Archivists, as they are allowed access into the depths for the first time. First off I just have to give all the inspiration credit to @Aurore for her wonderful calendars inspiring me to take this on. I've been wanting to get back into the Guilds for a while, and this gives me a great excuse to lore dump without getting caught up in the details for the 5k+ part build visions I have in my head . Day 1: Master Archivist "Welcome, novices, to our hallowed halls. I am Uscutin, Master Archivist, but today I will be your humble guide as you take your first steps into our sacred work. Within these walls, tunnels, and chambers, you will find the summary of all of our knowledge as a species." Quote
Aurore Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 You did it! This is really a intriguing theme and an intriguing place...that we will discover with a very mysterious-looking guide! Quote
T-86(swebrickLUG) Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Exciting start, looking forward to the continuation @Umbra-Manis great idea!! Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted December 3, 2024 Author Posted December 3, 2024 Day 2: Scroll Pedestal "You will find many pedestals, such as this one, displaying knowledge for all who wish to learn for the first time or the hundredth time, scattered throughout our halls. Some day you may be tasked with changing such scrolls." Quote
Aurore Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 (edited) What a clever little build! Is that the Dreamzzz hourglass-hilt-thing in brown? It does look sleek as a scroll stand. Edited December 3, 2024 by Aurore Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 Day 3: Scroll Transport Cart "Now you all must make your way single-file around this cart, as you have not yet earned the privilege of navigating a vehicle full of precious knowledge through our halls. Some scrolls are too fragile too be carried by hand, so we use these bespoke transports." Quote
Aurore Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Very neat little build! I really like how this is developing... Quote
zoth33 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 I really like the Archivist. The scroll pedestal looks nice and I like the gold accents in the builds. Quote

Umbra-Manis Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 Day 4: Ink Storage Room "As you no doubt are aware, making copies of our existing manuscripts and the recording of new ones takes an extensive amount of ink. This is one of many such ink storage areas, with all the common colors easily accessible for archivists working in the area." Quote
Kai NRG Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Your floor design on a couple of these is really interesting with the clip panels! Love the scroll cart idea too. Quote
Aurore Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 The ink storage room is such a brilliant (and useful) idea! Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 Day 5: Ink Spill "Now if you will please watch your paths, it appears someone was careless on their way out of the ink repository." Quote
Aurore Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Oops! So much for the solemn atmosphere of the place (for now, at least)! Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 Day 6: Inkwell Storage "You may have noticed that the previous chamber does not contain any inkwells. All of our artisans collect their own ink, and many create their own blends of colors. To that end, we keep the inkwells separate in order to discourage transport of too many inks, as you may have seen in the hall just now." Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Day 7: Archivist "Ah, and here is a fellow member of our profession, who has just collected his tools of the trade and is off to continue our work." Quote
Aurore Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Careful with thls inkwell, lad! Nice choice of colour for the quill! And very intersting design for the character...Vacunani archives are definitely a mysterious place! Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 Day 8: Quill Emporium "And of course one needs a quill to utilize the ink that our work is inscribed in, so here you will find a selection of quills from many of our exotic and common avian creatures. Now that we have passed through some mundane, but essential areas, we shall embark on the more exotic areas of the archives." Spoiler Days 1-8, all together! Quote
zoth33 Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 This is all coming together nicely. This is a unique theme for this advent calendar Quote
Kai NRG Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 So many lovely quill colors, I could lose myself browsing in there Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted December 10, 2024 Author Posted December 10, 2024 Day 9: Star of Life "Long ago when our ancestors fled the surface, on the final night before we sealed ourselves underground, the night sky was illuminated by the brilliance of 8 novel stars. Each of these shone in a different hue, and we commemorate their magnificence here, in the Well of Stars. Here, we preserve some small fragment of the wonder that our ancestors felt, that we might never forget where we came from. This is the Star of Life, named because it matches the hue of the crystals which allow our plants to thrive." Quote
Aurore Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 What a nice little build...I hope we'll see more of it! The other colours will come the next days to build a full-fledged star perhaps? Quote
zoth33 Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Love the design of this. The color scheme also works really well here. Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted December 10, 2024 Author Posted December 10, 2024 @Aurore Good Prediction Day 10: Star of Peace "Next we have the Star of Peace, which is a frequent site of meditation for many among us. Please do not disturb the sage who is currently resting in it's glow." Quote
