Dark Sword Ragnarok Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I love it! This kid is so proud of his work that he wants 80 bucks for it. I think we should applaud such optimism for our MOCs, as we all have for all things we create. It would have more potential if it was one color and airtight in my opinion. As stated before this is clearly a kid who is possibly over-optimistic and will almost certainly be sad to get no money. Look on the bright side of this MOC, there's a T.V. Give you any ideas TLG?)TNR( What probably went on was this kid needed 80 bucks for a game system or big toy or something (maybe even a pet?) and his parent's either wouldn't give him the money or wouldn't buy it for him. The parents probably told him if he wants such an expensive toy, to sell some of his old ones first. Unfortunately, the boy is no longer interested in his legos (poor soul) and rushes to his room. He has seen all the Star Wars movies and has just recently seen the preview for the Clone Wars movie. He decided the RGS is the coolest thing he saw in Star Wars, and began to build. From the looks of it, he has used parts from the Droid and Clone Battle Packs and one of those brick buckets from TRU. He attempted to throw together a ship based on the RGS and this is the Bantha Poodoo that came out. He rushed downstairs exitedly and showed his parents what he had built. He made his dad take a digital picture of it and put it on the computer. He then told his dad to "sell it on the computer" and went to bed. Assuming his son wanted the full 80 bucks for it, he posted it on Craigslist. Seeing as how the best creation he's seen in his life is a multicolored skyscraper 2 feet tall, he saw it as a work of art, hence "good deal!" and "selling a republic gunship i built my self and i dont need it anymore." Also, considering he spelled "bored" and "myself" wrong, and used commas instead of dash's in between his phone numbers, this is most likely a redneck family. To make sure, I dare one of you who lives in the area or has unlimited long distance calls to call the number and inquire about this "work of art". Wow, that took a while! DSR Quote

Dark Sword Ragnarok Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Some of this is very offending... Like what? I just made it up to go along with everyone else. None of it is true. What exactly was offending? The redneck part? Or the kid's building skills? DSR Quote

Second, yes it isn't the greatest MOC, but no need to make fun of it (which confuses me why this topic was even started), third, it might have been an adult. Kids can make good creations too. And fourthly, calling anybody a redneck is totally inappropriate and offending to me since generalizing people is really uncalled for, especially since you don't know the full story. I'm sorry, but that post was really offending, and I'm not trying to be a mod either, just please don't post like that again. Quote
Dark Sword Ragnarok Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 (edited) If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you do it? Uh, no. First, the whole story is all upon assumptions, so none of us know the whole story. I know that, that was the point of making up a story. If you want me to show you an example of other members doing exactly what I did, I will. Second, yes it isn't the greatest MOC, but no need to make fun of it (which confuses me why this topic was even started), We only are making fun of it because they want 80 bucks for it. You could buy all the parts for it for probably under 20 on bricklink, that's whats funny. It's not like we're serious. third, it might have been an adult. Kids can make good creations too. I know that, look at MOCpages... And fourthly, calling anybody a redneck is totally inappropriate and offending to me since generalizing people is really uncalled for, especially since you don't know the full story. So, calling an imaginary person none of us knows is offending? It was just a joke. I'm sorry, but that post was really offending, and I'm not trying to be a mod either, just please don't post like that again. My post was not offending, it was merely a joke, and I don't see how I'm at fault for hopping on the bandwagon. At least I didn't blatently insult it. I was at least creative. I think you're blowing a joke way out of proportion. Don't get me wrong, JimButcher, I really respect you. I just don't see what I did wrong here. DSR Okay, I admit I overreacted, but it was offending to me, even if it was intended as a joke. Still, this topic is becoming really spammy. What you're (we're, perhaps) doing right now (joking around, but unintentionally spamming) is exactly what got me chambered quite a while back. All I'm asking is for you to please stop joking, as it could also offend someone else and possibly get you in trouble from a mod/admin. Thanks. So... back on topic, it is quite ridiculous that someone would sell a... colorful ship like this for $80 when you can get all of the pieces on BL (as someone said before) for a few bucks, especially with the new RGS being released. WHy would you want to sell a MOC anyway? Of course, if you are really good, people might buy them from you, but it is a MOC, meaning MY own creation, so why would someone want to by someone else's creation? Okay... off topic again... I'll shutup. Quote

You know, when I saw this topic (before I clicked on it) I thought someone had revived this thread I started about a custom RGS (a good one) that you actually posted in. I was actually dissapointed to see someone made a topic to share this. DSR Quote
Norrington Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 (edited) If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you do it? Duh. It's called bungie jumping. As to this, considering the grammar, punctuation, and spelling, it was probably written by someone young, or someone illiterate (or who over uses chat-speak). If the assumption of the young person, it may not be bad if that's the level the're at. However, the price is ridiculous and deserves to be laughed at and mocked. Bungie Jumper- you jump off the bridge with safety in case what they're doing is pretty lame... while they fall into the water and off the white rapids you laugh at them and yet again mock this price. JimButcher, calm down. Ragnorak, calm down. We can forget all about the story and continue to post like normal gentlemen now shall we? Quote

It's actually been a while since someone called me just Ragnarok. And we already calmed down, so, on with the discussion! Wait, there isn't a real discussion here... Just blatent insults focused on some guy/kid who thinks his MOC is worth 80 bucks... If his MOC is worth 80 bucks, my Wolfen is worth 100 Grand, and pedro's contest entry is worth 100 million! (by the way, that's a compliment!) DSR Quote
