Minifig Lecturer Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Hi All, I have recently started to build a replacement stadium to host my Lego nation's football League games and provide improved facilities for the ever demanding hooligan minifigs. It is a Work in progress (I'd say 55% done) and I will update this picture soon but for the time being this is how things are shaping up. I hope it is an improvement on the old stadium anyway, if so then I'll be happy. For latest updates on the stadium's progress click here. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Very nice, I look forward to seeing the finished product! Quote
GoldenBrick Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 I agree with Lt. Col. It'll be spectacular. Your first arena was amazing, so this has to be extra amazing@ Quote
xzanfr Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Hello, Calvin. Your stadium looks to be progressing very well. I like the way you've used the construction vehicles within the construction and I'm especially impressed with the Apple 'finder' logo in your pictures!! (it took me ages to work out where I'd seen that face before!!) Is this the same stadium that you were discussing in a previous thread regarding the construction of the corner terraces? I can see from the pictures that you've come to a solution but I'd be interested to hear how this works with minifigs... i/e how you've got them to stand on the bricks but still look at the game. Having looked at the legoland times, I'm sorry to hear it's costing £0.5bn..... perhaps you should try bricklink Cheers! Gary Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted August 1, 2008 Author Posted August 1, 2008 Thanks Lt. Col. Thok and GoldenBrick =) Having looked at the legoland times, I'm sorry to hear it's costing £0.5bn..... perhaps you should try bricklink LOL yes that's true. But where I am, €1 = £500,000 Lego pounds, thankfully. Yes, I previously had asked members here whether they had ideas on constructing corners. I didn't feel the suggestions would work in practice so I just did it this way, first go, and it seems to look fine (in my opinion anyway) Obviously ideally I wanted curves, and now it is more a 45deg angle but I am pleased enough. I think figs will be able to stand along the terraced corners ok, we will see. They can turn their head you know ;-) In any case, they are more interested in practising hooliganism than actually watching the game! PS: apple logo idea I got when I came across another guy who had built one! Quote
Nikola Bathory Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 That's the first time I see someone with sucj an idea - a LEGO stadium! It's going to be huge, I guess! Quote
JimBee Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Looks fantastic so far, I can't wait to see the finished project! Any chance of custom football players? Quote
Basiliscus Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 As I said to you previously, this is great work. I really like the corner solution and I think it will be ok for the supporters to still see the game without breaking their necks, there is actually a possibility of slightly angling a minifigs feet while keeping both on studs. Otherwise, my suggestion would be to cover the corner terraces in 1x2 half-stud offset plates (sometimes called jumper plates) which means you can angle the minifigs any way you want. And remember and include mounted police! Those hooligans need taught a lesson! Quote
