Auroralampinen Posted October 24 Author Posted October 24 Obviously any good build or construction should start with a complex gearbox. And in this model this is no exception:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 24 Author Posted October 24 (edited) Here are some interesting facts about the new model:). Since i design mostly in 2000-2010 style. The newest model has no frames and has only 23 panels(4 on the front, 2 on chassis, 5 on the sides, 1 on the roof and 6 in back arm:).). Newest model has both pneumatics and linear actuators:). Newest model is my second motorized model:). Newest model is my most complex model so far and with biggest amount of play functions in my model:). Newest model is my biggest pneumatics model. And first to include a motorized compressor for the pneumatics. So no manual pumping to be seen here:). Newest model don't need any stupid app controls. You can interact with the model offline. Without screens:). (Oh man what a luxury to not control model without a screen:).). Newest model is powered via power functions L motor. And i don't think you can easily modify this with the 42215 motor setup. And since you are used to lego's basic functions. (steering, opening doors, hood, frunk and maybe a piston engine.) This model wipes the floor with TEN functions. Which is sadly unheard from lego at this point. So stay tuned:). I'm now working hard with the instructions. And this will have my most complex 3d model in studio. Because of the wacky angles. So this might be a huge pain in the a*s to create;). Edited October 24 by Auroralampinen Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 25 Author Posted October 25 (edited) Well, since im constantly improving and learning new stuff. I have now started learning and studying even harder the studio v2. And as result of this, the new model will have my new gen 3 instructions. Which are completely overhauled from the gen 2.1. And gen 3 will be my most premiumest instructions. And the most time consuming to create. But i do really care about my loyal fan base. So i have now decided to work even harder for the instructions. So they will be almost lego quality. And don't worry, gen 3 instructions are completely free to download. And i won't become greedy and charge anything for my hard work:). Edited October 25 by Auroralampinen Quote
Timorzelorzworz Posted October 25 Posted October 25 (edited) A good advice after many projects my friend: never update the Stud.io version during a build. It can crash the entiry project and instructions. For every "Bugfix" in Stud.io there are two new Bugs coming. Edited October 25 by Timorzelorzworz Quote

Auroralampinen Posted October 25 Author Posted October 25 Well, amazing that this topic is now 1 year old. I have to say this has been really amazing journey. I have learned so many new things. And my moc building skills have gone thru a roof. Well this in mind. The newest moc can be my 1 year anniversary celebration model. And im really thankfull of your amazing feedback and comment's. I remember when i was a little kid browsing internet on the family computer. And looking around eurobricks and sariel's reviews for technic sets. It's amazing that my passion for building mocs. Isin't anymore a hidden thing. But a public one, thanks for the eurobricks. And it's amazing to be part of this passionate community. While i might be one of the clumsiest moc designer. And set reviewer. I still do my work passionetly. And it's amazing to hear from feedback that you like my models and creations. And with these words i hope you will have a great halloween. And stay tuned for the newest model. I have now decided it's final name, and i have designed a new and improved instructions front cover as part of the gen 3 upgrade. The old black architecture style front cover will be gone, for a more classic design:). So Rest In Peace(RIP) the old black front cover 2025-2025. But i really think you will like the new front cover design. And im really proud for it:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 25 Author Posted October 25 Well, i tryed to test the pneumatic hoses in the studio v2. And it seems my flex hose skills have improved. But im still not happy. So i will make them photo generated. And i will make a full blown pneumatics operation manual at the first pages. So hopefully you will not make mistakes with the pneumatics. And hopefully the hoses are easy to follow. And i do have a craft work measurement tape(in centimeters) so hopefully that will help with the lenghts:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 26 Author Posted October 26 Well, im still pretty nerveous about those pneumatic hoses. I try my best that they are att least easily followable. But i still have fears they are not easy to follow. And i have had many sleepless nights about this consern. But if you are a craft person. The pneumatic hoses are box standard. And you can find them on 3x 42157 and 3x 42175:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 26 Author Posted October 26 (edited) I decided to little delay the release of the new model until I get the pneumatic hoses made for the 3D model because I'm focusing on quality, not on the fact that instructions and reviews and models come faster when I use picture instructions:). But since i do care for my fan base, the little wait is worth it. If the end product is better:). So stay tuned. I'm really excited to reveal the new model. I have allready scripted its review:). Well, i have to be honest. I should not be this confindend about my skills. Because im still human being. And not a magical creature with instant superpowers. Well i now tryed learning really hard about the pneumatic hoses. But unfortunetly my skills aren't improved for those flex stuff. So i will have to create a workaround. For those pneumatics. But i will promise i will try my best to make pneumatic instructions easy to follow. But again im just a human being and we aren't perfect. So we will do what our skills allows we to do the best:). Auroralampinen Posted October 26 Author Posted October 26 Well, this is what happens after midnight. You browse randomly new releases on merlins steine. And notice a new lego competitor. Which has not made any brick sets before. Only plastic model kits:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 Today i builded more the 3d model and studied how rendering works in studio v2. So as with the gen 3 upgrade. Model is build up module style(mostly) and with each module start up there will be a rendering what you are building. Like on lego technic supercars. And since this is my 1 year anniversary model and the true flagship. I will go all in with the instructions design. So the new model will probably have the most premiumest instructions of all free instructions mocs:). And my smaller non flagships will use gen 2.3 instructions which has most of the gen 3 feature set. But some aren't include. But both are easy to follow:). So in short. Gen 3 is used on my flagship mocs. And Gen 2.3 is used in my non flagship smaller models. And gen 2.3 is completely overhauled from the gen 2.1. With a lot tweeking to make the building process more easily to follow:). So stay tuned. And i have now worked really hard for a solution for the pneumatic tube instructions in the new moc. And im really excited to show that model to you. So stay tuned:). Quote

You can try to use flex rods/hoses in different lenghts as a workauround and fix the endpoints with some Pins (or other parts) before bending. The tubes can than become "rubber" colors for improved render quality. The instructions here with Pneumatics was made in stud.io: Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 (edited) Well, here is the world premier for the new front cover. I did testing for the brand new front cover design on the Miniature Combine Harvester. And oh boy it's soo beautiful. Im really proud of my new front cover. My mocs going foward will use this instead of the previous black style. I thought at the time, that black desing looked good. But im now regretting my choices. Because this is even better:). Edited October 27 by Auroralampinen Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 I have noticed. That the 90s blue instructions are timeless design(att least for my eye's). And my instructions looks still modern while using 90s style design:). But att least i have now a trademark, where you can easily identify my moc. Since i have brought back from the ancient ruins the 90s blue instructions cover. And i will stick to this, so i can be different:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Well, today was a strong start. Now the rear backhoe arm is done for the 3d model. Only thing left to do is the cab and rear outriggers. And then i will start rendering pictures for the instructions, and then i will take pictures of the cable management and hose management. And then finally i will start producing the gen 3 instructions. So hopefully by the early next week i will get everything done:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Well, happy news the 3d model is done. In total 1616pcs(excluding pneumatic hoses) :). Now i will start rendering pictures. This will probably take forever. Because my 2016 laptop doesn't have a graphics card. Only I5 integrated graphics card. And the laptop is completely usable. But some things are a bit slow:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Hopefully by tomorrow i will be able to start producing the gen 3 instructions. Today's time is going to rendering stuff:). And i have a feeling that the new moc breacked my record for the most amount of submodels. The new moc in total has 107 submodels:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Allright now the funness begins. Now i will start making instructions. And this has after a little fix. 1620pcs exluding pneumatic hoses. And 652 building steps:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Oh mama. I'm really impressed by my rendering skills. This looks so good:). Quote

Funny enough I have basically the same setup: Intel I3 (Skylake) from 2016 with integrated GPU only. Nearly 10 years old but still does the job. You are right the PC ist so busy then that you can't do other tasks. Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 All right step 15, only 637 steps to go. Then i have to create picture instructions for pneumatics. And finishing touching. So this will take probably 3 day's to finish the instructions, if everything goes to plan:). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 It feels so good to finally put the final model name on the newly redesigned front cover:). (I won't spoil the full name until the reveal;).). Quote
Auroralampinen Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Well, today i received again a new pantasy set(my 8th pantasy set:).). Oh man im now really busy. I have to produce a review for this and make the instructions for the new moc. And i have one pantasy set review on the backlog i need to make/finish that too. And next month i will do next monthly review for pantasy set:). Well, now i have a really busy schedule:). Quote
