WetWired Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) A friend challenged me to try the batpod after my tumbler creation, I originally tried to make it using only pieces from the tumbler (if you've seen the movie you'll know why) I did make one using only pieces from the tumbler, but it was a bit lackluster so I tried again using any piece I could find, it's still being worked on, I plan to add a bit more detail around the rear wheel like the real thing. It does however pivot up and down in the middle like the one in the movie. Problems so far are: The front wheel is held by 2 bars (the one in the movie only has one bar on one side), I couldn't find any way around this and still be stable. It's slightly larger than minifig scale Anyone got any suggestions for improvements? and please be brutal Here's an updated picture, you'll have to excuse the lackluster photography this time, I'll take some better shots when I get time I'm reasonably happy with it now, so unless you guys have some suggestions for improvements (and please do) I'll probably leave it at this, changes from the original are: Large Tires (using my tumblers rear tires) all new handles\arm protectors that closer match the movie version the seat matches the movie one closer now too, and is much smaller detail added around the rear wheel like the movie version With the new larger tires, I think it looks more accurate to the movie, but is definitely too big for minifig scale, as the whole thing is about the same height as batman himself, whereas in the movie it probably comes to about stomach height. tin7_creations Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 ooh, this is really really good. does it stuff back into the tumbler like in the movies? i love how it's minifig scale, but where would batman hold on when he's riding it? Quote
WetWired Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 haha no it doesn't fit inside the tumbler, this one is purely for visuals, I don't think I could even manage to have it look like this and still fit on my tumbler. Batman just sorta holds on to the sides to stay on, it's not very stable but I don't really make my MOCs to play with :) I may look into it and see if I can make batman sit on it more securely. But yeah I'll work on it some more tonight and improve the back end some more Quote
baby Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Wow, I have to say this is very nice. You guys are really great at MOC-ing Quote
Batbrick Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Oh that is beautiful! I love it so much. I made my own Batpod which I am pretty proud of but this is something else! Mind if I also build one? Batbrick Away! Quote
xenologer Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Technic parts would probably be useful if you want to make a single bar strong enough for the front wheel... Same with the rear for that matter, as it it looks pretty unplayable. Quote
WetWired Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 I could probably make one arm strong enough, but the problem is making the gun and pieces on the other side of the tire stay horizontal and not just spin with the tire Quote
Brainbox Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 I could probably make one arm strong enough, but the problem is making the gun and pieces on the other side of the tire stay horizontal and not just spin with the tire You won't believe this, but I've just come up with something. A few quick photos later (excuse the strange lighting, stranger colours and dust), and: Obviously you may need to change the wheel, and the bits on either side, but if you find ones that are quite tight on the bar, then the wheel should spin without the guns. It certainly does on this one. Actually, considering I came up with this in about 10 seconds, it's not half bad. I might use it... I love it so much. I made my own Batpod which I am pretty proud of but this is something else! Mind if I also build one? You should change your name. How about 'Fickle-brick'? Quote

Very good, obviously I like my solution better (I got all three guns on! ) but for more accuracy that is definitely a way to go. Though it seems you are suffering form Batsetcolouritis with all that yellow and neon green, don't bring back Schumacher! You should change your name. How about 'Fickle-brick'? Quite you! I go with what's best Batbrick Away! Quote

Honestly though, they were just bits that were lying around on my desk. Quote
