I'd have to say a UCS set is a LEGO set with a more complex design and construction where the finished product leans more towards a "display model" result and focuses less on play value and gimmicks and is meant to appeal to older or more experienced builders.

The N-1 Naboo Fighter is a good example. It's clearly smaller and less complex then other UCS sets, but compared to the Minifig-scale one, it is more of an accurate interpretation of the real thing, and it's not set up to have a pilot or acessories...it has a display stand, which hints that it's intended to just sit there.

As for Yoda, Cloud City, and Ultimate TIE...that's just organizational laziness I suppose :D

Well, ever since I first bought the UCS X-Wing and TIE Interceptor. I have wanted to build the main ships from the OT in UCS "scale". I use that word loosely!!

4 TIEs, Advanced, Bomber, Fighter, and Interceptor. 5 Rebel, A-Wing, B-Wing, X-Wing, and Y-Wing, and Snowspeeder.

Lego has offered us officially, 4 of the above. 3 of the above I have from Gareth's instructions. Guybrush on FBTB!

The other 2 I was on my own for. I started with the easiest. The TIE Fighter. I used the cockpit and wing pylons from the interceptor and built my own wings. Nothing really special about it, but, here are a few pics of it.

Now, for the TIE Bomber!

Seeing as how I had already used Gareth's instructions for 3 of the ships, I chose to build my TIE Bomber like Gareth's. I guess for consistency??

Although, I had pics to build from, this is a rather complex model. Building the internal structure, attaching the wings, and building it sturdy enough to sit in a classic UCS stand.

These were all challenges for me, maybe not Gareth, Warhawk, or any other seasoned builder, but, aside from building official sets and using instructions on line, I have never built anything this large or complex on my own.

All in all, I think I did a pretty good job.

I have also included pics of the internal structure and wing attachment. So if anyone else ever chooses to build Gareth's they may use some of these for reference.

Enough talking, here are the pics of Gareth's, my, UCS TIE Bomber!!

Wow thats a whole lot of detail that youve put in to it, i think that the ships look great and for me the Bomber stands out.

Im surprised that lego hasent done one already, but you never know they may see yours and decide to do one.

Wow, those are absolutely fantastic! I love how you were able to cover the rather colorful inside :-D And I love the cockpit! My favorite feature, however, has to be the opening for the missiles and bombs to come out
