He was stationed on Yavin during the attack on the 1st Death Star. He was supposed to be one of the reinforcement teams, but was abruptly ambushed by an Imperial ISB officer and some Stormtroopers who were scouting the planet. Since he dared not show he was actually a Jedi, he surrendered, hoping to find another route of escape later. As the Imperials were taking him away for questioning, a massive explosion went out above them - the Death Star!
