Hello everyone,

I would like to tell you a little story of my 2 MOCs I built and how they evolved through number of other models in the last year. i hope you'll like it :classic:

Note: after the GO-Kart MOD every model has the same motor and battery layout.

It all started in February 2023. when I decided to motorize my 42048 Go-Kart with BuWizz 3.0 and PF L motors. I did it by placing 1 PF L motor for each rear wheel and also making a high angle (60°) steering system so it had a very good turning circle with top speed of 5 km/h.

Then at the end of April 2023. I decided to build something faster. The result was the Green Formula V1, which had the same steering as the Go-Kart, but was powered by 1 BW motor. It had replaceable rear axle with easily changeable gear ratios. The car preferred understeer, which wasn't perfect, but it could still turn quite hard. With a 1:1.66 gear ratio I managed to get a top speed of 23 km/h. I had that model assembled for quite a while, full 5 months without any major upgrades. I really drove it everywhere, on school trips, camps, vacations, in the middle of a hot summer day and at night in the parking lots.

After the success of that model, I got an idea of a compact front suspension and I decided to build it into the formula. It worked very good, but it lacked the rear suspension, so then I added that too.

It preformed good, but it just wasn't right, it had too low ground clearance and the formula bodywork was getting damaged by light offroad terrain. That's the point when this model evolves into 2 different models. First one being a remake of it with a buggy body. Wheelbase is 2 studs shorter and it has more ground clearance due to bigger wheels. I also managed to build the chassis much stiffer compared to the formula. It drives very well and it also favors understeer. With 1:1 gear ratio top speed is 18 km/h.

I also made 2 YT videos showcasing the model:

The second model is a smaller remake of the original formula without suspension. It has 2 studs narrower and 5 studs shorter wheelbase with much more responsive steering and slight better looks. With a 1:1.66 gear ratio I managed to get a top speed of 23 km/h. It also has near perfect weight distribution which gives it awesome handling. It is sooo enjoyable driving it on tarmac on the limit. If you steer too much into a corner it will slowly make the rear slide, no snap oversteer or understeer. For me, this is the best handling car I built. This also might be my model to compete in Mini Racers class at BuWizz camp, if I don't build something better (I'm working on it ).

I also made a video showcasing it:

I hope you liked this little story/recap/history of these models. Feel free to post a comment about your thoughts on this.

I hope you'll have a great day

Cool to see that progress! It looked like you had a lot of fun designing and playing with these!

Yes I have, and I still do. :classic:
