languages Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Will Eurobricks have any more contests? I havnt entered one for ages and I really like them.............. Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I'm thinking of one to post. Trouble is I'm a bit skint at the moment Quote
SuvieD Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I can make on later in August after I deliver the survey results to Jake. What are people thinking would be fun, movie themed, sci fi, or maybe official set alternate models? I have more than enough LEGO to come up with a prize or 12. Quote
Luigi Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I have almost already a castle ready to go on a contest *satis* But I am waiting for some bricks (and Vikings) to show it. For the contest I would be Ok to make a MOC about japanim or something like that (fiction manga like Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop ...) Quote
languages Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 Do a thing that everyone knows about but please no Star Wars. Im sick and tired of it..... A Viking contest would be awsome. Everyone loves theses sets.... Their could be 3catogries: -Viking Monster -Viking custom figure -Viking castle Quote
The Middleman Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Well, the event is happening tomorrow, and that's taking up just about any money that would go towards prizes. Maybe in a few months. :) Quote
SuvieD Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 What does everyone else thing about a monster contest? Some preliminary rules. -must not be a modified official LEGO version of a monster -the monster must be somewhat realistic meaning it could be an alien but no laser weapons or anything to advanced -three categories with two prizes for each 1st and 2nd place entries and one grand prize for best of contest -cat. 1, scariest monster -cat. 2, most creative monster -cat. 3, best resemblance to an existing monster, frankenstein, godzilla, alien, shelob, Phes (joking! :-D ) -each entry will need a short description or story about the monster -people can enter each category twice, and are able to claim a total of two of the six prizes available -all entries must be either new or never entered in a contest before -all entries must be completed by September 3rd, 2005 -I will appoint a commity to vote on the monsters Prizes will range from a custom set made by me to a $20 set for the grand prize. This is just a rough draft. What does everyone think? Any suggestions, comments? Quote
languages Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 This would be pretty cool. So would you be able to enter 6 times in total? Will it be Viking based? When would it start? Quote
SuvieD Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Yes, is that too many or too few. I really don't see people making more than three or four anyway. It would be anything based. If you want to build a norse frost giant that would be okay. If you wanted to build a Japanese Capa turtle monster that would be fine also. One category is specifically for existing monsters such as godzilla, and he certainly isn't a viking! I will wait for more feedback and then post the official contest rules. I am thinking it will start August first. I will be spending some quality time here that day anyway so I will write up the final rules then. I will be out of town this weekend so I can't do it until later anyway. Quote
languages Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 Is it possible if you could extend the deadline of the compition because Im on holiday for 3 weeks in August and I cant build much in my spare week. Also how big do the models have to be? Quote
The Middleman Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Suggestions: Prizes: Grand Prize (best overall monster): Viking Catapult vs. Nidhogg Dragon 1st Prizes (all three categories): Viking Boat vs. Wyvern 2nd Prizes (all three categories): Viking Warrior vs. Fenris Wolf As that would be pretty costly ($70 or so), maybe a few people could split the cost? I also suggest limiting it to INHUMAN entries, because there are a few smartalecks out there that would try to enter Timmy. Oh, and also limiting it to SYSTEM-based creations, because you know those BIONICLE fans... I think one entry per person per category would be better than two, as well. A cool deadline would be October 30th, so that we could announce the winners of the MONSTER contest on Halloween. But, that's just me being dramatic. :P As far as the judges go, I'd suggest: - SuvieD - had the idea for the contest - Sarg Kulo - ran previous contests - Akkhraziel - extensive knowledge of mythology and 'present-day' monsters - ed_dotcom - extensive knowledge of Castle-related creations - mr. lego_bildur - just because. It's good to keep admins out of there, as we are, of course, friendly with each other, and may therefore feel guilty about voting for someone other than another admin. Oh, and you have to keep the odd number so there can't be a tie. Anyway, that's all my ideas for tonight. If you guys get this off the ground, we'd be happy to promote it. ;) Quote
languages Posted July 29, 2005 Author Posted July 29, 2005 Those are really cool ideas Bloody. I like your idea about the deadline..... Quote
Akkhraziel Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I'm all cool with judging, if you need people for it. I won't be able to enter anyway, and I'd love to see what people come up with. Akkh Quote
MattZitron Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I have a monster I could enter, but its not Viking in Origin. Can it be ANY monster, that way more of us can enter! But I'd definately be interested. Quote
SuvieD Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Okay here is the scoop. I need a few days to get the LEGO survey put together and polished up. Then I will post some rules and the deadline. If anyone has any other suggestions please post them. If anyone wishes to join the contest judges panel (no desire to make an entry or can not for whatever reason) please let me know. Lastly, should this be open to everyone or just those here at Eurobricks? Quote

Like a dollar per person over Paypal, so whoever supplies the prizes isn't put out? Quote
SuvieD Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Check the MOC forum for the new contest, I will get prizes announced soon. Quote
